More quilt ideas

This is a quilt by Katie PM.
I took a class with her in Grand Rapids
where we did this type of quilt.
I love it because it combines painting and quilting.
Definitely on the list.
Tne one below the artist provided the pattern/
I love the rich designer
Then here is a little bit of sunshine for today.
We do not get enough sun in the Indiana winter.

More Ideas from the internet

I am looking forward to 2017
I am going to try some of these ideas I
found in the blogs I follow.
 Love the triangle idea.
What a great way to use up fabric.
I love the way the lines interrupt the 16 patch square.
Then the next snow storm I will be doing some dyeing
trying to achieve the soft colors like Elaine Quehl
So much to do and not enough time.

Blue Jay Winter

 Winter brings such vibrant sunsets.
Cold must make the colors bolder.
The cold bright winter days combined with
snow keeps the bird feeder busy.
This Blue Jay is too aggressive.
He chases all the other birds away.
Saturday a small Coopers Hawk
chased him away from the feeder.
Leaving a blue feather in the snow.

Quilts

I like these quilts I found on facebook.
I just want to make mindless blocks
and combine them into quilts.

Winter

We are supposed to have 14 below Sunday morning.
That's cold enough to stay inside.
All the college grand kids are coming home by
the week end. Wishing them safe travels.
Yesterday I got the 3 sunflowers done for the
art quilt. Today I fuse everything together
and start quilting it.
Hopefully finishing by Friday afternoon.

Sunflowers in December

 Back to the studio today.
My friend wants a sunflower quilt for a
Christmas Present.
I dyed fabric Monday and made the pattern
yesterday. Now to make the quilt by Saturday.
On such a cold day I get to submerse myself in
warm yellow fabric and create.

Shivering

The birds are out there shivering this morning
It is cold and getting colder.
I added some feed and 2 more suet blocks
to help them during this cold snap

Costa Rica

Every February My Dad traveled to
Costa Rica to fish. He did this even into his 70's
I kept his box of memorabilia  and found it the other day.
How like Hemingway he was.
Cameras, travel, fishing and full of life.
He took us traveling too.
2 trips to California. Going the northern route from
Indiana and coming back the southern route.
I remember staying in Yellowstone in a cabin.
The girls were in their own cabin.
At night the bears scratched on the door.
That's where I met Merlin Olson.
I was 16 and he wanted to hang out.
Thank goodness my Dad said no.
I was pretty naive back then.

Snowing

Buntings in the tree.
Puffed up from the cold.

A blue heart in the cold snowy winter.
A perfect way to spend Sunday.
Snuggled inside from the cold
reading a book or two.

Hoar Frost

Hoar frost is a foggy moisture that settles onto
the branches and shrubs in the winter.
It creates a fairyland of frost.
I found this old file of hoar frost photos.
I remember it well.
I looked outside and notices the frost.
Jumped in the car and drove down the road.
In my PJ's.
I was deeply engrossed in taking photos
and did not notice the white car with flashing
lights. He reminded me to put on my hazard
lights when stopping on the road to take photos.
Embarrassing.

Rustry old machinery

I took some photos in my neighbors back woods.
These all could be art quilts.
Squares, panda face and circles.
I am thinking about photo shopping them to add color.
Some cool ideas.

Winter approaches as December dawns

A December sunrise at Cedar Ridge.

Sunrise and Sunset both are spectacular here at the ridge.
This is a busy time of the year.
As the year draws to an end I reflect on all that has gone by this year.
Looking forward to a New Year.

All things Red

This is the quilt I made for the SAQA trunk show.
I love the colors. Red and Turquoise are turning
into my favorite colors.
Christmas  is in full swing.
I got Rosie color pencils, markers, crayons.
Plus one of those new color books.
The book I found has a section explaining
what to do with the book. Lots of ideas for
patterns etc. Good for an artistic great grand child.

Finally I can download from the camera

This has been a crazy year.
For some reason my computer swallowed my photos.
Thanksgiving break brings the adult grands home.
Brent came over and changed the batteries in the
smoke detectors, moved a table in the studio
and worked on my computer.
I won't tell you the simple fix but now I can
access photos from my good camera.
SO I will be able to post with new photos.
Thanks Brent.

How my surroundings influence me

I was talking about thinking about moving but
Looking at the art I produce - show me that my
woods around me is my muse.
I am busy getting ready for Thanksgiving.
I am making curried Brussel sprouts,
mashed potatoes and cranberry chutney.
Oh a pumpkin pie.
Everyone have a great Thanksgiving.

Looking out my windows

This morning  I was looking at a house on the
inter net.  Only 2 acres. plenty of room for my art.
Screen room, plant room. A shop for my husband.
BUT I would have to leave this peaceful place.
We really need to simplify,
But how. In our area big places like ours
do not sell.  This place is getting too much work
for us. I guess wait until we have. too.
In the meantime I enjoy my little bit of heaven.

Fall on the Ridge

The leaves finally showed their colors.
My favorite time of the year.
I have been working on a Blue Heron quilt for
a friend of mine, It is a struggle.
Finding my grove after a 8 month absence.
I had to make another heron after I ruined
the first one.
My next project is a sunflower after I finish the heron.
Looking forward to Thanksgiving.
My family are all good cooks.
I will be making the Brussel sprout casserole.
