Bright and beautiful Leaves

The soft and beautiful leaves of the dogwood by the
sun room were awesome against the cold November
sky yesterday. November has such clear crisp blue skies.
Love the intensity of the colors at the end of fall.
How can one tree have so many variations of color.
Yellow, peach and browns.
Love the shadow of the branch glowing through
the leaf. Today I continue cleaning out the studio
so I can get started on my next project.
The 2015 summer show I have called Chairs.
Since I have given up the Holidays to my daughter
and daughter in law I can start before January
with art quilts in the studio. I do not have to
keep the house clean. I feel sad giving up
Christmas but physically I cannot do it anymore.
Time to pass the task onto the next generation.
Sad but necessary. We must be honest with ourselves
about our capabilities. The reward more time in the studio.
Not a bad trade off.

Vines climbing in Michigan

 Rain Rain Rain
At least it will wash away the snow.
Brad got a lot done yesterday The only thing he
couldn't accomplish was because the computer was
too old. Yes Vivian I am so lucky that 7 of my 9 grands
are close. They are so helpful especially changing
light bulbs. Those guys are 6'4" and can change a
light bulb with out a ladder. I cooked a big pot
of chili while he worked and sent some back to
Purdue with him. Really glad to have everything working.
I got a little more work done on the vines but am
not happy with the leaves. I need to research the
leaves of vines. My photo does not give enough
information as to the shape of the leaves.
I have 3 whole days in the studio now and should
make some progress. Have a great day . I will.

Monday

4 bushels of Michigan apples in the freezer.
55 containers of applesauce and 10 bags of
apple pie filling. One very tired lady.
Thank goodness for my grandson Brad.
Between Brad, Bill and I we were done by 1:30.
So glad that is done for another year.
One way to get sugar free food is to make it.
I use a blend of Golden delicious, Cortland,
Jonagold, Macintosh, and gala. Great flavor.
The birds are filling the air we are on the migratory
path for the sand hill cranes, plus the Canadian
geese. Love the fall. The smell of apples fills
the house. A good day.

Fall is in the air

The leaves are starting to turn early this year.
Love the colors-Love the smell of fall too.
Like a heady wine full of body.
Yesterday afternoon I went outside AT 4 to
just sit one the porch and enjoy the fresh air.
My husband joined me and we chatted for an hour.
We always spend extra time outside in the fall
we know winter will not be far behind.
Some vandals tried to bust up my sign but my
husband had used 4 inch screws to put it
together so they only got one of the boards off.
Need to keep the sign up this is how strangers
find me. Artist like to be found at times.
Well the sun is coming up between the pine trees
out my kitchen window. Time to start my day.
Read about Libby's changing condition this morning.
I said a prayer for her. So sad  for such a talented
mind to be in this state. Lets all think of her and
hope for peace in her life and those around her.

Shelia's quilt is done

I finished Shelia's quilt yesterday and block in another
fall art quilt. I just love the colors in the new one.

I must quit doing refection's  It seems like I start and it
has a will of its own. Like the colors though.
I may be gone for awhile I have a sore stomach
again and am running a fever. This is the 3rd
infection in 3 months and the last time the Doc
threatened me that it would be IVs in the hospital.
I hope not but this time I am running a fever.
So if you don't hear from me for awhile you know
where I am at.

The last color for Fall

Nothing beats the Maples and Pear trees for long
staying color in the fall.
Yesterday my husband drove me to Lafayette to
collect my art from 2 galleries and to
turn in my submission for our bid
for a show in 2014 A touch of Nature.
All about birds.
I also stopped at the Art Museum of Greater Lafayette.
I was bad I came home with another ceramic
plate and a fish in clay.
I will hang them today and take a photo for you.
I have added a lolt to my collection this year.
I also bought a small nest mixed media piece
of J. Reitmeyer at her show in TAF.
I also bought a watercolor of Rebbeca Brody of
sand hill cranes. She is such a good artist.
Well I am off to the studio to sort the art
I picked up yesterday.
Next week is the PAC Holiday show and I
need to label and inventory everything.
Have a great day.

Color everwhere

I took some time to walk around the yard
There was color everywhere.
Love the shades of fall.
the crimson of the sumac,
the purple of the asters
and the oranges of the leaves.
Color is exploding around me.
Today I will finish setting up the dye studio
after the plumber sets up the sink.
Than I will make lots of colors appear on fabric.

The Road Home finds a home.

Spent the morning decorating for Christmas.
Making my space look good for the open house.
I think climbing on a chair to do the 10 foot window
might become a task  I should not do anymore.
It looks great with evergreens and lots of birds.
My daughter stopped over to pick out her
anniversary gift.
She choose wisely by taking the large art quilt
The Road Home.
Four weeks of work and I am glad it will be
where I can enjoy it for many more years to come.
I had gotten attached to it.
I wanted the kids to pick a piece of art before the show.
After all we should share our best with our children.
Have a great week-end.

The view from the Kitchen window

My husband thought I was crazy to move this
tree by the kitchen window.
This is why.
It positively glows.
A great way to start the day.
The view out the window over the kitchen sink
is an important one.
Making the first cup of tea my view is great.
Doing clean up I watch the birds
sit and visit.
I am hanging glass balls  from
the branches that will sparkle against the snow
this winter as I watch the birds feed.
The most important view in the house.

Up close and personal

Love the leaves and fall colors.
I have decorated my home in the colors of nature.
Winter's are a joy inside  the glow of green and gold.
I almost don't miss the sun on cloudy days.
I put out a request for dog photographs yesterday
and got lots of beautiful new friends.
Love their dog faces.
They pose so nicely for their owners.
Starting today I will be in the studio daily.
The Holiday shows are coming and I need to create.
