Scraps

Yesterdays time in the studio was well spent.
My quilt is coming together nicely.
I may have something to enter the Quilt Nationals yet.
At the end of the afternoon I could not throw the scraps away.
I will turn them into a small purse.
Love the mix of turquoise and red.
The flowers are on their last gasp.
This hibiscus has a few blooms left.
I can always find a flower of some kind on the Ridge
until the end of October.
Another doctor day today.
My annual skin cancer check.
I will at least get lunch at Strongbow.
Always a treat.

Hospice

My mother will be transferred to Hospice today.
Her body says it is time to go.
We will make her final journey a quiet and peaceful one.
After 3 days in the hospital she has only worsen.
Her heart is wearing out.
Enough it says.
Time to join other family on the other side.
She lost her mother at the age of 2.
Her mother and new baby brother.
There was a tornado
they did not make it down into the shelter.
Now 90 some years they will reunite.
I have been taking quilt books with me to read
in the hospital as I sat by her side.
The nurses all are curious about quilting.
Yesterday I wore a discharged black shirt
with a pattern of ferns and Solomon seal on it.
That was a hit with the staff.
I explained how to do it.
I better gather some more books and
look for another interesting shirt to wear.
I need to be off early to meet with her Doctor.

Roadside Dasies,

I just love these raggedy flowers I found out in the country
by the roadside.
They are a nice bright spot in the day.
Yesterday I got a massage and thankfully my vertebrae
in my neck snapped back in place while she was working
on it. What a relief. I had a 3 day headache that went
away instantly. We finished putting sweet corn in the
freezer in the afternoon. All in all a productive day.
I am looking forward to being in the studio this morning.
I have to make 4 art quilts by the 1st of September.
So
I am going to abandon the big painting
which was giving me a pain in my neck
and do what I love play with fabric.
Have a great day all.
