Summer Time

Love my flowers.

I tell the passage of summer through my gardens. 

Spending time watching a small boy skip rocks. 

Watching the changing colors of the pond. 

Berries.

Strawberries.

Golden cherries.

Blueberries.

Fat juicy blackberries.

Bing cherries.

Peaches.

Melons.

Summer day

Reminder of summer

Mid winters fix.

 It has been so dreary that I needed some flowers.

 A reminder that they are still there buried under the

 brown mulch this cold winter day. They are waiting

 dormant for another few weeks. They will spring forth

again when blue skies and warmer temperatures return.

More of the chairs show.

 I sit here eating plain yogurt with honey and

enjoying the fact that the week-end is here.

We have a baby shower today for the new baby

Liz and Scott are expecting.

As usual I have been buying things for the last

4 weeks.  Only one thing from her list.

 I found the cutest winter bunting for only $16  on

Amazon. It was a North face.

I hate to waste money on wrapping paper so I

made a flannel crib blanket to use as paper.

 I hope you are enjoying the Chairs show.

Relaxing as you see the different ways I 

interpreted the ides of relaxation.

 The bench and sofa table were made by Chris Boon

a talented wood worker. I upholstered the bench.

We love the north woods in our family and it

holds fond memories.

I end the day with a  more contemporary chair quilt. 

TIger Lily Time

 The tiger lilies are in bloom.

They remind me of fire works.

Bright orange blooms going off all over the garden.

Yesterday I put a new sleeve on the Robin quilt.

Cleaned up the back and just need to make a label yet.

It is ready to go in the mail July 27th.

Now back to the big painting.

I have the morning to work on it.

Thursday we will be putting sweet corn in the

freezer for the winter months.

A messy job.

Sweet corn splatters over everything.

I put my artist drop cloths on the floor to keep it clean.

Tape black garbage bags over the cabinets.

Summer seems to be speeding by at a fast clip.

Next we will be canning tomatoes.

It will all taste good this fall and winter.

Reflections

                      I have been working the clay for 8 to 10 hours a day
                      I have 2 more days of building before I glaze.
                      A little time out to reflect on the lovely nature
                      outside my windows. The pond never fails to
                      quiet my soul and refresh my spirits.

Summer at Cedar Ridge

                               Yesterday I made salsa. Today I made 7 vases.
                                My next 4 weeks are going to be busy.
                                I was asked to make the centerpieces
                                for the Bravo Arts Brunch on October 12.
                                I said yes before I calculated how long it
                                would take to make 35 vases and flower bouquets.
                                I cut some flowers to dry today too.
                                The Goldstrum rudebecia will dry and stay yellow
                                 Annabelle hydrangeas  a nice mellow green.
                                 Add to this  a rusty grass, saliva and lavender for
                                 nice fall dried bouquets. You may not hear from
                                 me every day but I will try. Everyone out east
                                 keep safe and day.

Start of The Woods Road art quilt.

Yesterday was busy.

I laid out the background and

started quilting the sky.

My new art quilt will be a road

disappearing into the woods.

Lots of trees and leaves. 

                                   I made another 6 quarts of tomato juice.
                                   This is the last of the melons from the garden.
                                   We will savor this one.
                                   Next week on to the watermelons.

 

I am glad to be back in the studio again.

The pantry will be full for the winter.

I will be happy as a clam in the studio.

Watching the snow blow past the windows.

I am probably the only person who likes winter.

Homemade low sodium Tomato Juice.

It take this to get 5 quarts of juice.

Plus a morning of work.

A nap after lunch and no studio time.

In the middle of winter it all seems worth it.

Just not right now.

Only 45 more to go.

That equals 8 days of no studio.

Keep telling self it is going to be good.

Must remember that August is harvest

and not complain.

The weather is simply great now

Something to be thankful for.

Thankful my DH helps with the juice.

Plus the house smells great with

a batch of green pepper soup simmering away.
