Morning Glories.

 Finally got back in the studio yesterday morning.

I am working on the background.

I was happy when doing the squiggles in the background

smoothed out the small wrinkles.

Now just to do the rest of the background, finish off

with a binding or facing and the hanging sleeve

and I am done. Maybe Wednesday and Thursday

will do the trick.

 

Our past week has been a little stressful.

We thought we would be making a trip to the emergency

room with our son. He was in such pain for 3 days

than he gets up on Monday and the pain is gone.

Chemo does strange things. Every other week

we have a new adventure.

So far this week

 Four more small quilts done this week.

Only 4 more to go.

Thanks Goodness.

I am tired of smalls.

 But I must get ready for open studios at the

International Quilt Festival in Chicago.

The Photo to Quilt is almost done.

I just need to do Painted Quilts.

 These quilts are not wonky I took the photos

with them laying on the bed.

I will not do this again.

Well off to bed.

Need to be off early for a pain shot.

Hopefully it will help me handle next week.

Ida Red's

 Not as happy with my art quilts from yesterday.

I need to measure more. Buildings with straight edges

will show up the not so straight lines.

The best of the lot is the tree that stands in front

of Ida Red's coffee shop in Saugatuck in Michigan.

 The old buildings in Minnesota will not make the cut.

The buildings seem off kilter.

Colors are nice but the content leaves something 

to be desired.

On the bluff.

I finished up this sweet landscape yesterday.

It evokes a feeling of calm.

Just what I intended.

The August solo show is a vacation of the mind.

The photo part is the fence and the tree to the left.

The rest of the quilt is made of batik fabrics.

Last night we went to a Booth Brothers concert

Wow those men can sing.

Looking forward to a relaxing day with my husband.

Junco in the pines

 Saturday I made this bird quilt.

The back ground square is 15 x 15.

I spent about 5 hours creating this one.

The pine boughs turned out really nice.

This is number 6 so I have 29 to go.

Wonder how many I can make this week.

I need to go north to the UP store to send

my quilts for the International Quilt Show in Rosemont.

So I will have a few hours less this week.

Top is finsihed

Yea the top is finished now off to the quilters.

No more bed quilts until next year.

Now I can concentrate on Art Quilts.

I need to make about 30 medium to small ones.

August is the Chairs show and the Flower Path show.

Let the  fun begin.

Panels done

 I have all the panels done now to sew them together.

 It was actually fun to see what the different stitches

looked like and the effect the made.

 I really like how it is going.

 The group of flowers is nice.

Looking forward to putting this one to bed.

Fiberart For A Cause

My contribution to this years Fiberart Fir A Cause.

Sunset an 18 x 18 art quilt fused, painted and machine and hand stitched.

Every year Fiberart For A Cause, founded by Virginia Spiegel, announces a new fiber-related fundraiser to benefit the American Cancer Society. To date, we have donated $240,000 to ACS, and this year we hope to make it an even quarter of a million dollars!

Mark your calendars for February 4, 2015. Kathy's quilt

 Well I have all the components ready.

Now to play with the design for Kathy's quilt.

I see a lot of places to change. but I really like

the flowers and the fabrics.

It will be a great quilt for my daughter.

I got my new Dell desktop yesterday and my

grandson come over to fine tune it.

It is so nice to have a resource like a college sophomore.

Nothing like young brains.

I am going cold turkey with both a new laptop and

new desktop. Really stretching the 71 year old

brain. I will probably avoid dementia for at 

least 4 extra years with all the brain  stretching.

I have learned quite a few new things.

Like what settings means what to do with it.

Down loading patches for the Cd's I lost.

Things are still not working right with E-mail

but I will conquer that soon.

Rainy Day

My daughters bed quilt in progress.

Yesterday I got the last 2 rows on now to add the

 6 inch border. I hope to finish this top today than start 

 on the flower one. Queen size in chocolate brown tones.

I have one more leftover project from 2014

than I can start on my show pieces for 2015.

I need to do a 30 x 40 screened printed and quilted

art quilt for a friend. Tones of pale blue and silver.

Should be fun to use some of the skills I learned 

from Jane Dunnewold.  Paint is always fun.
