Beautiful Weekend

I love this time of the year.

It smells great and is sunny.

The pond is alive with swimming and

flying birds.

Our God gave us a beautiful place to live.

Spring

 Spring is finally here.

The ducks are back on the pond.

My great grandson loved going down to

watch them swim and to feed the fish.

He stayed with me yesterday.

Wow it is hard to keep up with a 3 year old.

When it warms up I have trouble staying 

in the studio. Nature calls me outside.

 The earth is still brown and messy looking but

soon it will blossom forth in bloom.

The warm times go by too fast.

There is beauty in the brown of leaves too.

Today is the FibR meeting.

I always look froward to seeing my friends.

They are all so intelligent and creative.

Art does feed the soul.

Spring

 Life is so good.

I enjoyed our fiber meeting last night.

Everyone is so talented.

I should have taken my camera so show you all

the beautiful things  they have created for our

show in May. I will definitely take it to the next

meeting so you can see for yourself.

We were all given a piece of African fabric to

use in our piece so there is a continuity to the

show. Very clever uses of the fabric.

Today I am headed to the studio to put the

backing, sleeve and binding on the sunflower

quilt. FINALLY I will be done.

Water fowl.

 Spent the afternoon photographing Minnesota lakes

and wildlife. I took 365 shots all from the comfort

of the truck. My new lens is great. My grandson

caught a 35 inch Northern so he was very happy,

One more day and we get a rest from visitors until

Sunday night. I think they went through 10 gallons

of white and chocolate milk. I bet the next crew will

do even better. They all love the Cass Clay dairy

products. I have a lot of nice photographs for

art quilts. Great water shots. I promised to make

Chinese food today for them. Fried rice and pork

stir fry. They are off to the bakery for fresh rolls

than another day of fishing.

 

The art quilt and the painting that inspired the quilt.

 This is one of my favorite quilts and painting

that inspired it. I loved both.

The quilt in in New Mexico and the painting is

hanging over my sink in the studio. At least I kept

one of them. I have to remember to keep some of the

better works of art I do. My kids might want them

later in life.  It has been a rainy time but we do

need the ground moisture. So no complaints.

Yesterday I spent the day in Lafayette. I stopped

at Joann's with my coupons and got a bolt each of

805, 807 and a box of cheesecloth. The clerk

wanted to know what I was going to do with 80

yards of cheesecloth. Well with dyes it will become

tree trunks, water, and grasses on the 6 by 10 ft.

art quilt I will install next October. I thought I

had better get started now. I also found a nice cool

top to wear to the gallery walk for our show in May.

I got home by 9 pm and crashed. I slept 8 hours

which is unusual for me. I cleaned up the wet

studio and put away the clay stuff. Now it is

a matter of waiting for it to dry and bisque fire

the items, I ended up with 10 fish, 5 vases and

some small stuff to experiment with glazes on.

Now to go back to label my work for the show

and make sure it is all in order. That means a

bright light and look for threads to clip. The

 wood ducks have landed for the summer I so

enjoy watching them on the pond. We just need

some sunshine and warm weather. The tomatoes

have all sprouted in the sum room and now to

thin them out. I think my husband planter 8 per cell.
