Golden

A cloudy rainy morning here in Indiana.
Needed to make my own sunshine.
So I went to my photo stash to find some color.
Another week to try and create some art,
Have a great week my friends.

Lazy weekend

I live in a special place.
Tucked away in the woods
on top of the hill.
The sun shines through the trees creating a mood
The cold air in the winter creates a foggy landscape
out the back yard.
Enjoy a peaceful week end.
Peace to all.

Winter

We are supposed to have 14 below Sunday morning.
That's cold enough to stay inside.
All the college grand kids are coming home by
the week end. Wishing them safe travels.
Yesterday I got the 3 sunflowers done for the
art quilt. Today I fuse everything together
and start quilting it.
Hopefully finishing by Friday afternoon.

Some of my favorites.

I thought I would share a few of my favorite works
of art. The first one is an acrylic painting
'Yellow Barns'
The second is an art quilt I did while at QSDS in
Ohio and called ' Central Park'
Than a beautiful art quilt I should have kept.
'Autumn'
I still have the painting though.
The last one is 'Sunset at Cedar Ridge'.
The view off of our deck.
I consider myself very fortunate to be able to make
these lovely pieces.
I am amazed at times.
I thank God for the talent he has put into my hands
and my heart.

Progress

Now it is time for the leaves.
Getting closer to the finish line.
I love the colors this quilt is producing.
The fabrics seem to glow.
I worked hard yesterday and should be able to finish
this today. Looking toward Lake Michigan in the
fall. Almost calls for the Chicago Skyline.
I found another use for my template holder.
Holding small art works so I can enjoy them
while I work. Love Diane Dornan"s bird.
Now I just need to add some highlights
and it will be done.
Have a Happy 4th of July.

Todays work

Worked on some small quilts for Montana today.
They are about half way there.

I added some interest to the sky with paint.
I am in the process of cleaning the studio.
The last 4 months it got a tad bit messy.
Now that the show has opened I need to get
some direction going. Need to sit down and plan
the next year. Always something to think about.

Best of Show

Yesterday was the opening of the 71st annual Salon
Show  hosted by South Shore Arts in Munster, Indiana.
I was honored to receive the Best of Show award.
When I started in Fine arts in 2009 one of my goals
was to get into this show. Now to win the top award.
I am proud and thankful.

Time for another landscape quilt.

I think it is time to start something new.
This photograph will be my inspiration.
The rolling verdant hills of Minnesota.
One of my favorite places.
Today I will finish putting the binding on the
raffle quilt. It is a beautiful day to sew.
I planted some Shirley poppies and marigolds
outside my studio window to have a spot of
color all summer long.
Saturday a day of slowly taking it easy.
