Here is my end of week board from QSDS 2013.

It is almost time for QSDS 2016.

I went last year and plan to go in 2017.

Sunset at Cedar Ridge

 Wishing a Merry Christmas and a Creative New

Year to all my friends and fellow artist.

Here at Cedar Ridge we will gather to celebrate

the birth of a King.

Christmas is to celebrate the birth of Jesus.

Enjoy this special time with friends and family.

Finished Two

 I finished  up the details of these two started in

November. Both are nicer than what I have done in

the past. Brighter colors. Now to see which one Dana

wants than I will know which one is mine.

I frankly like the yellow one.

I realized yesterday that there are only 21 days

until Christmas. I had better kick it in gear.

Life gets a little crazy around Christmas.

Yesterday afternoon I cooked and sliced 30

pounds of pork. We are going to have pork

sandwiches for Christmas along with

Turkey wings barbecued for dinner.

Deviled eggs and  baked beans.

 Picnic anyone.

The beauty of having it at my house I get

to choose the menu.

SAQA Studio Tour.

Saturday we had a great  time at my SAQA Studio open

house. We enjoyed a great lunch and spent 3 hours

sharing ideas and techniques. Everyone is so talented.

I think it would be fun to have a play date with

these artist and share even more. Everyone has

so much to offer. It was a delightful day I am

sharing lots of pics so you can see too.

 Rosie and her dog quilt I just loved it.

 Barbara Triscari's quilt that recently appeared in

Quilting Arts along with an article.

 Joan Fulton's wind mill art quilt.

She has spent a lot of time in Africa and share

many of her experiences with us.

 Pat and Nan two great fabric artist.

Nan makes the most beautiful clothes and jewelry.

Pat just have an encaustic show open Friday night.

Pat has the beautiful white hair.

 Judy Ireland  showed us her great collage work.

She has many great experiences to share with the

quilt art world.

 

Nancy Elder's quilts from Sue Benners class. 

I was delighted to find another fiber artist that lives

close to me we will meet again.

 Barbara Triscari was published in the latest Quilting

Arts magazine. She is a very talented artist.

She uses lots of rust dyeing.

We had a great time and I hated to see it end.

Usually I get all uptight about hosting these things.

but this time it was all gals who share a common

thread so it was a no brainer. I was relaxed and

enjoyed my guests. They all had so much to share.



Work in progress

A new style for me.

Thursday Nancy come to spend the day with me

in my studio. I had read Jean Wells books

and was ready to branch off into a new

direction. I love the Kaffee Fasset Lotus fabric.

Using that as a starting point I choose several

fabrics from my stash and in my usual style

I was off and running. I wasn't much company

for Nancy as I quickly became obsessed

with my new project.  Hopefully she still

enjoyed her visit. It is not usual for me to

invite people into my space but we seem

to mellow out with each other. She made

several helpful suggestion giving me some new

directions I could take my piece.

We had a nice lunch with a tomato, basil,onion

pizza, salad, fruit and glorious lemon

cookies from Bit of Swiss a awesome

bakery in St Joseph Michigan.

My husband picked some sweet corn for her

to take home along with a dozen of the

fresh eggs from his pet chickens.

Another day in the Summer of 2013.

It is turning into a very good year.

 

 



Successful opening.

The opening was last night of our show

In Harmony with Nature.

It was a success people loved the combined work

of us 4 friends. The art blended so well.

I sold 10 small ones and could have sold 10 of

the reflected trees on in the upper right.

I am going to make another one for Shelia Klinker

the Representative for Tippecanoe county.

She really like it . I need to make more of

this style, I find that people like trees and

water just like I do. The most asked question

was. Can I touch them. Yes you can that is

what fiber is about. 

I love when people can have a piece of art in

their homes and enjoy something tactile.

The constructive criticism was great too.

They gave me so many ideas. Ideas that will

have to wait until July.

 I am going to get to keep my favorite painting by

Dana Zier I just have to make her a reflective

art quilt of flowers reflected in water. We are

just trading art. I will get to try something new

flowers and water. That should be interesting.

Now to get ready for Sunday dinner tomorrow.

Craig requested a family dinner before they go

back to North Carolina. Ham, chicken roasted

new potatoes, asparagus, corn, salad and

pies for dessert. Yum should be good.

Little Tommy found one of my small art quilts

in progress. I had stippled around the center

motif and he though it was a treasure map.

How cute but it gives me an idea for his

Christmas present. Must find things with

treasure maps.
