Watching the Humming Birds

We love our   birds here at Cedar Ridge.
Great entertainment. Watching nesting,
hatching and learning to fly.
Bees, flowers and watching the deer.
Sitting on the deck and watching the sun set.
Watching the birds hurry to their night roost.

I love   all the seasons of the year except July and August.
Watching the season wind down towards fall
I anticipate  winter. my favorite of all.
When I can hibernate in the Studio and make ART.
I have been sprucing up the house outside and in.
Scrubbing, weeding and having things painted,
Light fixtures outside cleaned.
Just need to get some new mulch spread on garden
areas I have changed or eliminated.

But first.
Thanksgiving and Christmas,
Than Studio time.

Love my flowers.
Amaryllis's are my indoor winter splurge.

Lots of blooms and little care,
My daughter the amaryllis queen got
me started on these lovely blooms.
From January to March  we enjoy each one.

Summertime

I took a walk around the yard.
There is always something blooming.
Summertime is special.
We only have 3 more months to enjoy warm weather.
We had a cool spell this week end.
My favorite kind of weather.

Sunshine for a winter morning

 I have been busy.
Transferred 27,000 pics to my desktop.
I have edited out 14,000 so far.
It has been interesting.
Especially how from 10 years ago how much
stuff I have filled all 3 rooms in my basement
studio with quilting things.
Need to pare down.
Sew up that fabric into art.
Each January I clean and organize my studio
before I let myself create.
Almost done.
Sorting the photos has given me IDEAS.
I am ready for 2017

City garden

This is what I am trying to work on now.
I keep getting interrupted.
Which is why I do most of my creating from
January to May 1st.
Summer is just too busy.
Last night John, Starla and the redheads took
us out to the Farmhouse restaurant for supper.
To celebrate our Anniversary in May.
It was nice to hear all the new plans for
FAIR OAKS FARMS.
It was so nice. On the way home we got to see
the SUN SET. nice.
Today I will get the quest suite ready for company
on Monday. Getting it ready means finding a new
spot for the 12 inch layer of quilts on the bed.
I am excited. A visit from family and I
get to look at all those quilts again.

Daylily Time Again

Sorry I have been absent since June 5th.
Yes that long.
Life just got in the way.
The day lilies have started blooming again.
I am amazed that every year they return.
Bright and Beautiful.
Rosalie Dace suggested last year that I concentrate
on making quilts of flowers close up.
Much more effective that a bunch of little flowers.
I think that is a great idea.
Yesterday Anita Krug and I went to the IMA in Indy
for the opening of the SAQA Dialouge show.
We both have quilts in the show.
I really enjoyed the panel discussion.
Kathy Loomis had some interesting points.
Over all it was an enjoyable day.
I saw some marvelous quilts and enjoyed
talking with other fiber artist.

Summer in looks but winter in Temperature

Everything is green and starting to bloom.
The air though is crisp and cool.
I spent the morning potting plants and prepping
pots for planting. It is supposed to be in the 3o's
Saturday and Sunday night.
Not a time to put out annuals.
Andy my grandson and Owen my great grandson
helped this morning . We put the bench and chairs
around the big pond.
Owen got to ride on back of the pick up truck.
He also filled small pots with dirt.
Nest week when it is warmer we will
put seeds in them.
The beginning of another summer.

Up close and personal

 Love my day lilies.
They brighten the summer days.
Too bad the mosquito's are so bad.
I have to shot and run.
I have one more painting to do and then I
think I will take a couple of weeks off.
I love sunflowers so this should be fun.
Off to the studio.

Love the purple

The clematis have bloomed very well this year.
I love the purple one.
I thought it was a goner because it was broke
off at ground level. Come back. Happy.
Yesterday the landscaping guys came and sprayed
for weeds. They had gotten away from me.
I got 3 larger quilts backgrounds blocked in
and quilted the sky and water part. Today I will
so the fore ground than I can star adding the
fun stuff. Grasses and chairs.
I am starting earlier and working later to
hopefully get done. Will take some photos today.
Well I am off to the studio at 7:30.

I have been remiss my friends.

Spring gardening has been keeping me busy and
I have not blogged much lately.
I find that it takes me longer and uses up my
energy so I am done in by 4 pm.
 We are almost finished outside,
Just the containers to fill and I wait until after
Mothers day to see what plants I get before I
finish that job.
I did buy a flat of petunias for fillers.
 Gardening and doctor appointments.
The bane of my existence.
What was I thinking signing up for QSDS 2015.
I will need to work hard to finish up enough
work for my August show.
At least I made the sketches and prep the batting.
Now to work today and tomorrow on quilts.
Saturday I need to make 4 pies for Sunday.
That is unless there is a cancellation at the dentist
than I will need to get a tooth pulled.
Another day in my life.
