Sunday Morning Walk

Sunday  morning I took a walk through the garden.

The whole month of July the garden has been awesome. 

Something bloomed every day 

This fragrant lily was especially beautiful.

Flower Power

 I love my flowers.

This year I put all annuals in pots.

I find that there are less weeds.

 I am trying to dye some fabric.

So far the results are not the best.

I can always use them for backing.

 Today I am trying something new.

I soaked fabric in soda ash water.

Scrunched or folded and put in the freezer overnight.

Today I will pour dye over them.

If I can ever get my camera to download photos

I will show them to you.

 Finally got my Bi-pap machine.

10 days of 7 hours of sleep a night is giving me energy.

The machines and mask are so much better 6

years later. Not a problem at all to wear and sleep.

Hopefully I will once again be creative.

April showers bring May flowers.

 It has been a rainy week.

Lots of rain.

We should be looking at flowers in a few weeks.

 I have been absent this week.

Back problems.

I cleaned the garage scooting on an office chair.

When there is a will there is a way.

I am too busy for back aches.

Spring and fall always time for a back to give  out.



Summer Flowers

 The flowers are so pretty right now.

I am taking photos for future art quilts.

We finally had a sunny day with no rain.

 I am thinking of doing large close ups of flowers

In a series. Great idea?

 I am so blessed with lots to choose from.

Today is FibR meeting in Lafayette.

I have missed 2 meetings and it will be nice to

see everyone again.

 I really like this daisy flower.

It is so vibrant. Than the zinnias are just awesome.

well off to the studio for a few hours.

 I love the summer. My garden continue to share

their beauty with me.

 Day by Day new flowers emerge from the yard.

It is amazing that the flat brown expanse of my

gardens erupt with green than colorful flowers.

A miracle every year.

Gardens in Summer

 It was misty and foggy this morning making the

gardens mysterious.

Muted colors.

Very Monet.

 One of my favorite a day lily I found in Elk River

in Minnesota. The deepest red in my garden.

Two weeks until my knee replacement and I am

frantically getting all my entries of art quilts

really to mail or be delivered.

The freezer is full of low salt meals enough to

last until Thanksgiving. Pantry is stocked.

All throw rugs removed.

Just have to finished backing one of the panels today

and than get my Quilt National entry 80 % done.

Not much pressure.

Flower Power

 The gardens are starting to look lovely.

Than the back study of just plain leaves.

Summer is a wonderful time in the gardens.

I finally got the four panels done.

Finished by 5 pm today.

Now just to put the back and sleeves on them.

Than I can move on to some fun things,

Like a 4  quilt swap with Tommy Fitzsimmons

and 2 of her friends.  I look forward to doing something

fun. I need to make my friend a wall piece

for her modern living room and also need

to make a piece for Quilt Nationals.

We are doing fathers day this Sunday

because Craig is coming to town.

I am making apple pies for dessert.

Craig and Brads favorite.

Grandsons.

Friday I go to Lafayette to hang the big

quilt in the gallery it will show in in October

so I can send a recent photo to the magazine

Machine Quilting Unlimited for the

article that will  be in  the magazine.

Busy. Happy to be busy. 

Pink and yellow is the theme this week.

 I woke up early this am. So I got up and

packed my suitcase for my class this week

at the AQS Show in Grand Rapids. I get to paint and

 quilt. What could be better.

I am getting  prepared to work on my 12 foot

wide installation. My grand daughter is coming

over to help attach grey felt to 3 new

4 x 8 two inch thick foam design boards.

I will work the 6 panels on the boards.

This week the gardens are full of yellow

and pink. The season is coming to an end there

will not be much left to bloom after this.

Well time to get busy.

Summer on the Ridge

 Looking through some old photos I found this.

I realized that it no longer blooms in my garden.

Maybe the voles got it.

It was a spectacular plant.

The snowball hydrangeas are in bloom now.

Cool green and white in the shadows of the pine trees.

Yesterday I worked on finishing up my entries for the

upcoming show Under Indiana Skies.

I hear we have 166 entries.

The Jasper and Newton county artist are prolific.
Connie a quilter from Texas stopped in to visit
with her mother Doris.
She is here to do Quilting.
She brought her 2 nieces so they can quilt with cousins.
I am invited for the Saturday lunch and show and tell.
How fun.
They are all traditional quilter and I am a art quilter.
Maybe I will convert someone.
Women and young girls sharing a common thread.
Related and relating with fabric.

I have been busy.

I haven't blogged  for awhile,

 Sorry - I had to take time out to clean my house and studio.

My daughter in law sent the info on my house to a Realtor.

We have had 12 years living at the special place.

But we need to downsize eventually.

Somehow squeeze 4000 sq feet into 1700 sq ft.

With a bonus room for a studio.

It is getting harder to keep up a large home and larger yard.

So if it happens it was meant to be.

If not we will live here in paradise longer.

 I dyed some background for my new project

but I ended up using my first choice.

The colors are the palette for my new quilt.

I am going to try for the Quilt Nationals.

If I doesn't work I will have 2 pieces for my show next May.

SO it is a win win.

I get a head start on May's show.

Or I hit the jackpot.

May as well aim high.

Summer brings a show of color.

Flowers keep blooming all season.

In March the ground is bare and brown.

Than it warms up and a riot of blooms

 pop out of the ground and delight us all summer.

I just love the magenta petunias with an edge of lime green.

They are my favorite new annual.

Have to have a few annuals for color.

Well a full day in the studio today.

A clean studio at that.
