Fall is here

The prettiest time of the year is here. 

It doesn't last long enough.

We really need lots of rain going into winter.

The pond is the lowest I have seen since 

we moved here. 

All the birds have left the farm except for the 

ones that stay all winter.

The winter birds haven't come back from 

up north yet though.

Relax and enjoy the month of October.

Fall on the Ridge

 The leaves finally showed their colors.

My favorite time of the year.

I have been working on a Blue Heron quilt for

a friend of mine, It is a struggle.

Finding my grove after a 8 month absence.

 I had to make another heron after I ruined

the first one.

My next project is a sunflower after I finish the heron.

Looking forward to Thanksgiving.

My family are all good cooks.

I will be making the Brussel sprout casserole.

A Touch of Nature

 The opening was a success last night.

In spite the wind and snow and nasty weather

we had a great crowd. People that appreciate art.

My 5 panel quilt looked awesome on the wall

and people were impressed.

 My other large art quilt was flanked by 4 of

Barb's bird photographs in shades of orange and yellow.

A perfect compliment to the quilt.

 A table full of small items for cash and carry last

night. Something for everyone.

My companion Barb Lucas is an awesome photographer.

Her bird photos also included complete information

about the bird and its habitat. She had a lot of red dots

by the end of the evening.(sales)

All in all it was a satisfactory opening.

Fall my favorite season.

 I just love the colors of fall.

The leaves and berries glow on the branches.

 The trees put on a show for all of us.

Back lit by the sun.

Glowing.

 Sumac adds an accent to the landscape.

Today I will finish the small quilts for

the Ohio Craft Museum.

I will ship them off on Monday for their Holiday show.

Than I will finish what I need for my show.

That leaves only the small quilts for the

Big Sky gallery in Montana.

Looking forward to a day in the studio.

Fall is coming

 Fall will be here before we know it.

I noticed some sumac changing color already.

I am wanting to start creating again.

Maybe next week I will find some energy.

I did not expect a knee replacement to be so

consuming a recovery.

 Here are some of my favorite fall art quilts.

My mind is busy thinking of what to do first.

I read my proposal for the show we have in November

and December. I had proposed making clay birds

for the wall, paintings and some sculptures of

bird nest. Besides the big quilt.

I think I need to get busy next week.

Today we canned 8 pints of stewed tomato's

and 3 quarts of pasta sauce. Too soon to do

this type of work.

Leaves of fall

 Made some progress yesterday.

I started to add color it is coming alive now.

Still needs more work and more leaves.

 This quilt needed that pop of color.

Need to refine it now.

I woke up  or should I say I am still trying to

wake up this morning. I need to get it in gear.

I have a full day to work in the studio and I

am wasting it.  Some days are like that it is

just nice to loll around and get a slow start.

This cool weather does that to me,

it feels so good to just curl up in a chair

with a blanket and read. Well I am going to the

studio NOW.

A beautiful sunny day.

 Today is sunny and perfect.

Just a day to spend quietly at home.

With my husband.

Maybe later I will go out and shot some more photos,

read a book and just relax.

Have a good one.

The colors are starting.

I can tell fall is approaching.

Color is starting to appear.

The nights are 55 degrees and daytime is delightful.

We just have to do applesauce and dig potatoes.

Than the harvest is done.

My friend April said if there is a catastrophe

she will come to my house.

She knows there will be food.

She will have to fight off those 6 grandsons.

Those 6 ft 4 inch frames take lots of food.

I haven't been in the studio much

Life just gets in the way.

In a way I am enjoying the break.

I was pretty involved from January to July.

A little rest is welcome.

 

 

I have been busy.

I haven't blogged  for awhile,

 Sorry - I had to take time out to clean my house and studio.

My daughter in law sent the info on my house to a Realtor.

We have had 12 years living at the special place.

But we need to downsize eventually.

Somehow squeeze 4000 sq feet into 1700 sq ft.

With a bonus room for a studio.

It is getting harder to keep up a large home and larger yard.

So if it happens it was meant to be.

If not we will live here in paradise longer.

 I dyed some background for my new project

but I ended up using my first choice.

The colors are the palette for my new quilt.

I am going to try for the Quilt Nationals.

If I doesn't work I will have 2 pieces for my show next May.

SO it is a win win.

I get a head start on May's show.

Or I hit the jackpot.

May as well aim high.

Summer brings a show of color.

Flowers keep blooming all season.

In March the ground is bare and brown.

Than it warms up and a riot of blooms

 pop out of the ground and delight us all summer.

I just love the magenta petunias with an edge of lime green.

They are my favorite new annual.

Have to have a few annuals for color.

Well a full day in the studio today.

A clean studio at that.

Tuesday's mornings golden glow.

Sunlight through the trees

The glow of Fall.

 Fall grasses highlighted  by the sun.

The sumac glows red against the woods.

The old wind mill spins in the gentle breeze.

Fall is a special time of the year.

A Sunny Monday morning.

I just love the first half hour before and the

first half hour after sunrise.

The colors glow especially with the

help of the foggy mist  from the

cooler night time temperatures.

                                 Fall is my favorite time of year. I am

                                 getting ready to spend 5 days in Brown

                                 County Indiana in a log cabin with 9

                                 other women creating art with pastels.

                                 Wednesday I deliver the centerpieces

                                  to the Bravo Arts Brunch and continue

                                  on to Brown County for 5 days. What a

                                 treat to make new friends and spend time

                                 in the hills of Brown County.

                    Sassafrass trees make the best color in the fall.
                                   Enjoy the days  it will soon be winter.
