Maybe Spring this week?

As you can see it is still winter here in March.

Hard to be an artist in Indiana.

Hard to be a cow too.

I think spring comes this week.

More that ready.

I sent 2 quilts to be quilted.

Have 2 more in process.

Maybe next week an art quilt.

FINALLY

Winter around me

It has been a snowy month. 

Beautiful outside.

The windmill in the field stands out against the sky

Shadows under the pines. 

It snows a little every day this week.

Next week it will warm up to melt it. 

We have at least 16 inches on the level.

Sometimes the snow show up in an art quilt.

Winter is a blue time.

Blue shadows in the snow,

Blue skies.

Snowing

Buntings in the tree.

Puffed up from the cold.

A blue heart in the cold snowy winter.

A perfect way to spend Sunday.

Snuggled inside from the cold

reading a book or two.

Winter wonderland

 Finally some snow to make it look like winter,

It covers all the brown and makes a fresh day.

It will be 50 by Friday so it won't last long.

 We will enjoy it while we can.

I think this virus is finally going away.

Slowly.

Today is day 12.

It may be cold outside but inside it is

warm and cheerful. I still have my Christmas

decorations up. Maybe this week I will finally

put them away. I will leave the red flowers out

for awhile though.

The snow is coming.

 We are finally getting some snow.

6 to 8 inches.

By morning it will look like this.

 Just in time to cover my daffodils that have started

growing because of the warm weather.

I must remember to fill the bird feeder.

 I need to go to town to get a few groceries and

to take down my art quilts that have been at the library

for 2 months. Except for one that I am selling to

Sunday Martinez Poole. The sunflower quilt it will

brighten her walls now.

 I have started my yearly clean the studio and boy

does it need it. Hopefully it will look like this by

the end of next week. I want to start making and

experimenting with new projects but must clean first.

 Well I had better go to town get groceries and fill

the feeder and the suet racks for the birds.

Than hunker down for some snow.

Owen is coming for the afternoon.

I found the army men for the fort.

We will play.

10 inches of snow

 Yesterday was spent watching the snow fall.

Over 10 inches of snow.

 The birds were hungry.

 They posed for lots of photos.

I made 2 pot roast and a pot of chicken soup.

Meals in the freezer so I can work in the studio.

While it time to get busy in the studio.

Lots to do.

Snow

 As I sit here and watch the snow drifting down outside

my window I am enjoying a cup of tea.

It is going to be a day of lots of snow.

Everything looks so pretty out the window.

I think it is time to get the camera out and take

some more snow pictures before it gets too deep.

 I am going to prep some fabrics for snow dyeing

tommarrow. I think it will be a perfect time to

make some more sparkling fabrics.

Thats what they make me think of sparkles on fabric.

I loved this little quilt and should have kept it.

Well I can always make another one.

Recovering from another divaticulitus infection.

Winter in Indiana

 Once in awhile we get a blast of sun,

not enough this winter but then winter is

almost over. Thank goodness.

 It helps top be surrounded by this though.

I am so blessed.

This week is 3 days of doctors and test.

Torture for me.

My spine is acting up again so they are checking 

some things out. Then there is the annual skin

check 6 months late. Yearly mammogram. 

Bone density, Still need to work in the dentist.

I WOULD MUCH RATHER BE IN THE STUDIO.

Next week back to business.

Snowy days ahead.

 It came early this year.

Cold and snow.

I am ready to hibernate in the studio though.

Saturday I blocked in two new art quilts.

I need something larger for the Farmhouse Restaurant.

Nice winter borders and a snow scene in the center.

One will probably be my favorite view here at

Cedar Ridge. The western border.

Will change the art over the first week of December.

I usually don't get going until January so I am

getting an early start on new project.

My next show Chairs keep running through my head.

Lots of cool ideas.

Our FibR group is also doing a Flower theme the same dates.

Lots of pretty things to design.

Well off to the studio this cold Monday morning.

More reflections and snow.

 I am hoping to finish the reflections by Saturday,

I think I am going to combine paint with fabric

to achieve the thinner reflections.

 We are sure getting tired of all the snow but it

was extra beautiful yesterday.

So I got in the car to get some shots of the back

yard. Almost got stuck taking this one.

It was worth it.

Must get the paints out.

A Snowy Winter

 Thank goodness we did not get the lake effect.

I have had enough snow and we are only half way.

Snow does create neat  photos though.

I hope to get 2 hours in the studio today.

I am thread stitching the trees and bushes on the

big quilt. I am finally getting the basic elements

down in my head and am satisfied with the composition.

I am starting to enjoy the process and trying some

new things. I started a new book yesterday and

could not put it down Finished it at 1 am.

Well off to the studio.

Another snowy Saturday

Another day of snow in this snowy  winter  of  2014

I spent some more time on the big quilt.

After I removed the Robins my progress was

much faster. They will be used in another quilt.

The view from my studio window shows today's

weather, We are supposed to get 3 to 5 inches.

Already I-65 is closed in Lafayette  because of accidents

due to snow. Has to be the most dangerous road in Indiana.

Well this is my progress so far I need to paint the

trees in the background green or fall colors.

They look like mountains. Not what I intended.

I think the water is looking better.

Let it rest and I will be back at it Monday.

How a peaceful week-end.

 Another day snowed in.

One more to go.

This is a really tough storm.

The roads are still shut down even the interstate.

I will be glad when it warms up. My son, husband

and grandsons do all the commercial snow plowing.

This storm has been downright dangerous.

Saturday night, Sunday morning 4 am to noon to

Monday without a rest. They finally said enough

and told the last customer it is just too cold.

They will get them in the morning.

Now I can quit worrying about them.

Now for a night of uninterrupted sleep.

A snowy day on the Ridge.

 It was a cold and snowy one yesterday.

 We live in a beautiful place.

The snow on the pines is spectacular.

 The birds could not get enough feed.

The blue jays are a bit aggressive.

I started on the big quilt .

I have the batting cut and have the sky

pined on and will start working my way down.

I choose  a lot of fabric and had a load

to pre shrink in the washer.

Thank goodness for the mangle it makes

short order of ironing a lot of fabric.

Today I set up a show in the library for 2 months.

I will get a few groceries and hunker in for a few days.

Another snowy night.

Today was a pleasant interlude.

Claudia and Abbie fellow artists came to

my studio this morning and visited for awhile.

Than we went to Gail's Studio for lunch.

Gail has a fireplace in her studio.

Gail lives on the farm.

She has a studio building that  is off by itself.

Two large rooms to create in.

They are remodeling the kitchen in their house

right now so they are eating their meals in

in the studio. How pleasant to sit at the large table

in a room heated by the fireplace and have

lunch with some fellow artists. We talked art.

What else do artist do?

Sunday snow

Another quiet day at Cedar Ridge.

We had a little snow.

Spent most of the day reading and napping.

I find that I cannot stay up for 23 hours

without it catching up with me.

Monday I will spend the day doing

the stockings and getting the out of

town packages ready to ship.

Maybe some studio time by Wednesday.

I got a letter in the mail Saturday

I will have a Solo show called Chairs

in the fall of 2015.

Something to look forward too.

Snow before Thanksgiving

 We had our first snow thanks to Lake Michigan.

Thank goodness it was just a dusting. Should be gone

Thursday. I have been busy cleaning and shopping

I try and have Christmas shopping done by Thanksgiving.

Hate going to the stores with all the crowds.

The carpet cleaner will be here this morning to do the

bedrooms I think next spring we will need to replace

the carpet. One more cleaning. I will finally get down

 to the studio this morning. I have all day to mess around

in the studio. Sad to say from now to Christmas there

is not a lot of Studio time. The Holidays get in the way.

I still need to do my Christmas cards. This year I will

do collages. I got a pack of 40 watercolor cards to use

as bases for the collages. Makes my life simple.

Well I am off to the Studio.
