Sunday solitude.

I am getting more independent as I age. I ordered
turquoise glasses and tortoise sunglasses. I am going
to have an older pairs lens replaced with colored glass.
Feeling rebellious.
My daughters amaryllis  she posted on face book
this morning. She has a 20 foot wall of windows and
enjoys a garden in the living room all year long.
Sits in her easy chair and reads in the sunshine,
They took a mile long walk in the snow this morning
she and her husband know how to live.
My son yesterday was going to make breakfast
for his teenage boys . The oldest one will go back
to school on Sunday. My middle son is sitting
in his toasty warm house thanks to the wood
burner he put in this fall. All is good.
I printed the bird photos I am going to work
into the honking big quilt I am making.
All in all a good week-end.

Quiet Sunday Time

I found this small art quilt while sorting my studio.
It is of silk and made to practice zig-zag binding.
I love the luster's of silk and will be
working in silk this week.
Today will be a time of rest and reflection.
This week kicks off the busy Holiday show season.
Ready set and get busy
just not today.
Enjoy your week end

Back from vacation.

Just back from a week of recharging my spirit in Wisconsin.
Lots of rain and clouds but on the last day sunshine came
back in Door County Wisconsin.  The trees were glowing
red and gold. The skies were blue - a perfect end to the week.
Found lost of galleries to look at art. Very good fine arts.
As always I get some new ideas.  This would make a great
quilt. Good food and good times now back to the studio.

Reflections

I have been working the clay for 8 to 10 hours a day
I have 2 more days of building before I glaze.
A little time out to reflect on the lovely nature
outside my windows. The pond never fails to
quiet my soul and refresh my spirits.

A needed day of rest.

A quiet stroll around the pond
and some nice photos for future quilts.
Such a peaceful way to spend the morning.

Found this little fellow in the grass
He thought if he stood still I would go away.
A needed rest full day after a Saturday of
canning a bushel of tomato's into
17 quarts of juice and  doing another
5 meals of corn, going to an  auction
way too much for one day.

Time out for a fabric check.

With the garden keeping me out of my studio
I had to take time to reconnect with fabric yesterday.
I played around with these colors
and made a mess but
it felt good.

Love the color combination but I was rusty
around fabric after 2 weeks away.
Got my SAQA Journal and
got inspired again.
Loved Trisha Hassler's work.
That is so me.
I must finish the tomato's
 fast so I can reconnect.
OR maybe just go and buy
3 cases of Red Gold tomato juice.
I could get back in the studio faster.

Vistors from the sky.

18 geese showed up this morning on the pond.
They strutted around the yard nibbling grass.

This afternoon I went down to the studio
to play with some fabric and looked out the window.
Must have gotten hot out there.
Some of them found a shade tree to rest under.

The garden has gotten in the way of my creating
I will be glad when we are finished so I can
go back to hanging out in the studio again.

See how my garden grows.

Lots of yellow in the garden.
This dahlia is huge.

We finished the rest of the sweet corn today.
Now we have 63 meals of corn in the freezer.
Now on to the tomatoes.

Spiders, Fog and sunrise.

Saturday early I noticed the foggy mist
hanging on the spider webs.
A sure sign of the coming fall.
They were magical.
I just had to share.

Relax and have a peaceful Sunday.
A day of rest.

Amazing!!!!

Yesterday I did NOTHING.
Yes  in the year and half since I retired.
I finally did it.
Cozied up in my recliner and read a book.
Relaxed and enjoyed a quiet day.
Try it sometime.
I liked it.

Its hot and steamy on Cedar Ridge.

Two weeks ago when I cleaned like crazy
I set up 2 cozy areas.
The wicker chair is perfect to sit in to hand finish my quilts.
The recliner to read and work on my laptop.
Just imagine 3 shelves of quilting books and magazines.
The perfect place on a hot summer day.
I love my view from the kitchen table.
                        Quietness and tranquility of water.
Perfect for a cold summer lunch.
Now off to the studio for some create time before lunch.
