December 29 to March 13. Too many viruses.

Yes we have Cranes here year around.

The town of Wheatfield Indiana is where

they hang out all winter.

Drive by them 40 feet from the highway. 

After a disappointing winter the wood ducks are back. 

The tufted titmouse and the chickadees stay here

all year. 

Well my winter when I usually get all my

 art quilts done for shows was a bust.

I had 3 batches of the Respitory virus.

Thanksgiving, Christmas and end of January.

Just got back into the studio this week.

I will just move on to Spring.

I am totally ignoring the Corona virus.

But it looks like another 6 week in.

Maybe I will find time to blog more often.

Finally finding time

Time flies.

I have been busy creating art.

Last 2 shows due Tuesday and Wednesday.

Then free until August. 

Busy adding plants to the garden.

Making 5 Queen size bed quilts.

3  to go.

Hanging a show Wednesday.

The next 2 days I will be sewing like crazy.

Then my life will calm down. 

I just need time to do them.

Birds

Birds come in all colors 

Big and small. 

Single and pairs 

Can you tell I LOVE birds.

Sometimes you think artist are portraying fake birds

But  there are some crazy funny birds in nature. 

Just look at these.

Lovely colors.

Crazy feathers. 

If you want a treat .

Look up Ginny Smith a quilt artist.

I always though she made up all the birds

in her art. Now I'm not so sure.

Winter in Indiana

Winter here is pretty nice.

Very senic 

The chickadee waits in the tree for the 

Blue Jays to finish .

Blue Jays are very greedy.

The birds are busy

 Sitting by the window this morning looking

towards the backyard I see the birds busy

gathering nest building material.

 I love all the activity.

Birds arguing over territory.

Shuffling through the ground trash looking

for just the right pieces for their nest.

Two male cardinals chasing each other

to determine who gets which tree.

Spring gotta love it.

Bird on a post

Bird watching

 This little hawk likes to scare the small birds.

It swoops in and they scatter.

 Its what we do in Indiana in the winter.

Watch the birds eat and stay inside where its warm.

Shivering

The birds are out there shivering this morning

It is cold and getting colder.

I added some feed and 2 more suet blocks

to help them during this cold snap

Snowing

Buntings in the tree.

Puffed up from the cold.

A blue heart in the cold snowy winter.

A perfect way to spend Sunday.

Snuggled inside from the cold

reading a book or two.

Computers repaired

 Thanks to my son in law and grand son my

computer is cleaned and working again. Just in time to

enter the AQS Daytona show.

Cleared off the viruses and moving fast again.

 I also am going to submit a proposal for a show in

2018 with the theme of wildlife around Cedar Ridge.

Glad to be back posting again.

Doves

My friend Mary Ann Pals took this photo of a dove on her deck.

I love the colors  and the birdsong of this bird.

We had a quiet week end at home.

The best kind.

Except I drank a Pepsi.

After no caffeine for a few months.

I was awake all night.

It should be an interesting day.

I think you will find me by noon curled up like the dove.

BIrds and Dragonflies

 I added the birds and dragonflies to my water

quilt today. Now to bind and finish.

Than to take photos.

Than get it entered one day before deadline.

Nothing like waiting  till the last minute.

Inspired by nature

 Thought I would show you what inspired me when

I do an art quilt. Usually the finished quilt does not

look exactly like my photo.

I take photographs constantly to record nature that

catches  my eye. When I decide to make a new

piece of art I browse through my photos for ideas.

I like the snow bird better on evergreen branches

than on the wooded branch even though they

really like to perch on branches not the pines.

I am working on a new quilt for an entry into the

SAQA show to be held at the IMA in Indianapolis.

Background squares are sewn now to cut to size.

Than I plan to put morning glories on the foreground.

I will take some photos to share.

Well off to the studio.

I have not been in the studio much lately.

Need to correct that.

SO far this week.

 I changed the wing on the bird.

My husband kept saying it did not look right.

Even though I followed the photograph.

It does look better.

 My next bird art quilt is sort of a collage.

I think it is OK.

I am working on a larger sunflower quilt.

I have to decide it it will be a wall quilt or a pillow.

I still am undecided.

Winter continues here in the middle.

My sunflower seeds arrived in the mail today.

I am looking forward to planting them,

The sent me a packet of rust colored coreopis.

Yum.

Spring will come eventually.

Snow

 As I sit here and watch the snow drifting down outside

my window I am enjoying a cup of tea.

It is going to be a day of lots of snow.

Everything looks so pretty out the window.

I think it is time to get the camera out and take

some more snow pictures before it gets too deep.

 I am going to prep some fabrics for snow dyeing

tommarrow. I think it will be a perfect time to

make some more sparkling fabrics.

Thats what they make me think of sparkles on fabric.

I loved this little quilt and should have kept it.

Well I can always make another one.

Recovering from another divaticulitus infection.

Keep me in you thoughts and prayers Please.

Indiana to hang my and  Barb Lucas's show

A Touch of Nature

My grandson Brad will meet me there to do

the hard part. Hammer, nails and ladder

will be the tools of choice.

 I estimate it will take us 4 to 5 hours.

I have 3 list I need to check to see if it is

all in the car. Than a stop at the Fair Oaks

Bakery for some sandwiches and their

famous chocolate milk for lunch. Brad's fave.

Hopefully I will remember to take some photos

to show you tomorrow.

A Touch Of Nature

 If you happen to be in Indiana on the 31st of October

stop in at the Lafayette Art Federation.

Barb Lucas a noted bird photographer and I are

opening a new show. It will feature the wonder of

watching birds and the importance of their conservation.

The TAF is located at 638 North Street in Lafayette

Indiana, opening is 6 pm to 8 pm eastern time.

The show will run through December 5th.

Hours daily are 9 am to 5 pm.

 This is a potion of the 5 panel quilt that will debut

at this show. It is 18 foot wide and 6 foot tall.

I used the photographs of Barb's birds

 as inspiration  for my quilt.

Barb has prepared a video on bird watching that

will be shown at the opening.

Worth the trip.
