I can see this photo turned into a abstract

art quilt. Love the shapes of the building.

Another idea for this winters work.

We are supposed to get snow this week.

That is why I was looking for a sunshine

photo need to think of blue skies.

This week the only thing on my schedule is

my weekly massage and Thanksgiving.

Should leave plenty of time for creating.

I had a good day Saturday sold a few things

and donated the money for the food boxes

our church is giving out for Thanksgiving

to families in need. Feels good to share

my talents with others less fortunate.

Work in progress

This is a work in progress that I started in August.

Then life got in the way for awhile.

I have it hanging on the design wall waiting

for January when

 I get back to working on next springs show.

I know where I am going with it

just need to finish the hanging leaves

and devise a way to attached the top

to some branches.

This will be for the show

In Harmony with Nature IV

I bought a mangle this fall and will

put a new cover on this morning and

start ironing the 200 yards of fabric

for the Nancy Crow workshop in December.

Time does fly.

December 10 will be here in a flash.

New art quilt

What a nice quiet Sunday.

Sometime the body just needs quiet to recharge.

I spent some time in the studio this afternoon

after a lazy dinner of scrambled eggs and toast.

I finished this scrappy 12 inch square art quilt.

Cleaned up a little in the studio

than an early shower

and into some comfy pajammas.

Now I will read for 3 or 4 hours until I fall asleep.

Keep safe all you on the east coast.

You are in my thoughts.

 



Scrap quilt

 I had to do some sewing.

All that painting was driving me crazy.

It is amazing but I like fabric better that paint now.

So after 5 hours of painting I stitched the scrap

quilt I made last week. I had fun with the stitches.

Curving lines and straight lines.

 Now to use this piece as part of a larger quilt..

I love the colors.

Reminds one of fall leaves.

I may cut it in leaf pieces.

Or use it as part of a larger quilt with leaves around it.

We will see

Color in Nature

 I bought a $14 box of caladiums at Sam's this spring.

Money well spent.

I look at the leaves and wonder at the variety.

 They were slow to come out of the ground.

But as they unfurl the colors are amazing.

I like pruple in the garden so these continue to delight me.

Like big colorful hearts.

Brads day off is today to I will be out in the yard today.

I am Thankful for the help he has been this summer.

He really like to chop and trim.

Our bushes look good now.

Everything benefits from a good trim.

I will make some homemade chile so he

can have chile dogs for lunch.

Chile Dogs with vadalia onions and cheddar cheese.

Yum. One of his favorites.

Saturday I painted card board boxes for a

rollor coaster for Bible school.

Not much time for my art quilts.

I long for January when I have solitude to quilt.

But enjoy the moments now with family.

Soon the grandkids will be back in school.

Too busy for grandma.



Short n Sweet Today

 A busy day ahead.

Yesterday I tried discharging a couple of shirts.

Took the clippers out to the garden and found some

vegetation.

Ferns, Solomon's seal and Canadian hemlock branches.

Not bad but must watch the drips.

I wonder what it would do on turquoise.

Must try that next.

Its 5 am and I am off to the garden to reset the sprinklers.

New dishwasher coming at 9 plus the

neighbors are coming  to find a graduation gift in the gallery.

I need to add some rusty barb wire to some art before than.

Have a great day.

Last day of chicken chores and garden chores.

The fishermen return tonight.

Hooray.

I really hate chicken chores.

Sunset at the Ridge



Sunsets  in Indiana are sometimes quiet peaceful things.

I almost finished the Northern lights quilt.

I am doing the binding now.

Took time out to put some fresh strawberries in the freezer.

Time seems to fly by each day.

I need to start the sprinklers in the garden

before I go to the studio.

It is getting dry and it is hotter each day.

The corn and potatoes need a drink.

Yesterday I turned on the soakers on the tomatoes.

I had the local lumber yard print me some

larger prints of my next quilt.

A tranquil water scene I hope to enter in the Q Nationals.

I am surrounded by water ideas here on the Ridge.

I know I am very inexperienced yet  but you never know.

Beginner's luck.

Maybe.

Doesn't hurt to try.

Central Park

 Central Park finished.

6 hours of sewing and fusing.

5 hours of thread stitching to accent the quilt.

Ready to debut at the show in Lafayette.

Off to the hardware store this morning.

I am going to use the hanging method Jane Dunnewold

showed me last week.

Much neater that a sleeve.

Rigid strip of metal at the top with holes in each end.

Either use mono filament or nails to hang.

Attached with Velcro to quilt.

Easy to remove.

It is what this irregular top quilt needs.

Today I finish Northern Lights.

My least favorite color-magenta

 We were assigned a project of  using our least

favorite color.

Mine was magenta or anything pink.

The quilt above was the result.

I am thinking I will add more contrast

to the reflections.

The fabric below has been over dyed, stamped

and foiled.

These colors are more to my liking.

I really enjoyed QSDS.

It was intense.

The Masters class was interesting to observe.

I think this experience will broaden my way of quilting.

Seeing different styles of art quilting was interesting.

I was able to win the bid for Jane Dunnewold's quilt.

I bought TOO much fabric.

Luscious hand dyes.

Crazy colored T shirts.

Way too much fun.



Final Project

 My room mate was kind enough to share her photos

with me. The last day we posted our weeks work.

My favorite is the abstract quilt above.

My main project was the landscape quilt below.

I made 7 art quilts in 5 days.

If you ever have the opportunity take a class

with Cynthia Corbin.

She is taking the year off but will be back for

QSDS 2013.

I made the irregular edge quilt in 6 hours.

I got razzed a lot for sewing 100 MPH.

We are very tired but satisfied with what we learned.

Columbus QSDS 2012

Today we start our final piece for the week.

This photograph will be my inspiration.

I am learning a lot.

Mostly how much  do not know.



QSDS Columbus, Ohio

Well it is hot and sunny here in Ohio.

My camera phone will not download to my computer.

So no new photos for a week.

So far in 2 days I have produced 3 keepers.

2 uglies that were supposed to be ugly.

We did an exercise taking 3 fabric that did

 not go together. We had to make a quilt

breaking all the rules.

It really did not turn out too bad.

Just bright and garish not at all my style.

This afternoon I started a nice piece

that I will finish on Wednesday.

Tonight we had a bazaar.

OH THE FABRICS !!!!

Almost good enough to eat.

I have found a lot of nice hand dyed fabric.

Too much fabric found its way into my case.

May have to leave on of my companions here.

Need the room for fabric in the car.

New Sky art quilt

 Started a new art quilt.

This one will combine abstract forms with

trees and grasses.

Found some more painted cloth to use.

I left the wrinkles in for texture.

 Stitch down some of the shaped.

Cut tree trunks to fuse on.

I like the small clump of trees.

Saturday I will fuse and stitch some more.

That is after I go to the post office with

the Foto Fiber winners packages.
