Love this combination. Will do.
Farmers wife is on my list.
But in brown, black, grey and one color.

A must do this winter.
I love winter.

Tea on a Saturday afternoon.

I went to my friend Doris's house Saturday
afternoon to pick up 3 silk shells she had dyed
for the Holiday Art Show this Friday and Saturday.
I need to sew up the sides for her.
Doris is going to be 96  this month.
She was busy painting watercolors.
I saw my Gate art quilt on her wall.
She made some tea and we visited.
Alert, active and interesting as usual.
On my way home I saw the cranes in the sky.
Good Day

Birds

The Juncos will be gone before long.
The sparrows and the Jays never leave.
Just get more numerous.
 And more jays.
Little quilts remind me of the winter birds.
My husband is having some medical issues.
So my friends my life is once again in flux.
Just waiting to find out what and where we go next.
On our journey through life together.

Leaves and birds

I found this pic and remembered how neat it was
making leaves. Funny how fall leads to leaves.
Than I found some bird pics and need to get
going on my 2 pieces for the NICHES show.
I am doing them both with birds.
Marks pet scan had a good report yesterday.
 Now on to the surgery.
It was a beautiful day and today looks good also.
Now off to the studio to get something done.

Junco in the pines

Saturday I made this bird quilt.
The back ground square is 15 x 15.
I spent about 5 hours creating this one.
The pine boughs turned out really nice.
This is number 6 so I have 29 to go.
Wonder how many I can make this week.
I need to go north to the UP store to send
my quilts for the International Quilt Show in Rosemont.
So I will have a few hours less this week.

THe start of some new art quilts.

The first step in the process.
I printed some of my photos on fabric.
fused them onto backgrounds and today I will
add quilting. Than I think I will do some canvas
backgrounds and add the small quilts to this.
Than maybe embellish with beads or
found objects. Frog time was at the
International Quilt Show in Houston.
With the haku I wrote for it. I love the water lilies.
Than the road in the woods in Wisconsin.
My husband and I took  a trip in the fall
to see the beauty of Wisconsin.
Another full day in the studio. Nice.

Newest art quilt

Studio all ready to dye on Friday.
I made 2 art quilts today.
This one with the chickadee is my favorite.
I just may keep this one.
Soft and subtle colors.
It went together so smoothly.
Now I just need to make another 18 or so.

Robin is done

Finished the art quilt and ready to go on to a 3-D Robin.
I have a cedar post with a branch attached for a base.
Yesterday I started the nest.
Than maybe one more 3-D bird and ready
for submission.
It feels good to be back in the studio
and creating again.
My knee is finally starting to bend again.
I can walk up stairs normally
but still need to conquer going down.
Still doing one step at a time.
I found a mangle on Craig's list.
Talked the owner into delivering it before my surgery.
My son in law put a new cord on it.
So now I can press the 150 yards of fabric
I have pre shrunk for Nancy Crow's workshop.

Work in progress.

I started working on my proposal for a 2014 show about
birds. I need to finish this small quilt and make
some 3-D birds yet.
I had my husband cut a cedar log in 4 lengths.
We wrapped barb wire around them and
added a small branch to one.
The branch will hold a Robin on a nest.
I will attempt a 3-D owl this week
to sit on top of one of the post.
Than maybe a cardinal or chickadees.
Spent a quiet day church, lunch out, a long nap
and a good book.
A perfect Sunday.
