Cooking for the crew.

I need to make a dozen bacon and egg sandwiches,

banana nut cupcakes with maple frosting today

for the Van Soest men helping build a house today.

The eggs are from my husband's chickens.

Can't get any fresher than that.

It will be a cold day to work outside.

I need to concentrate on my Robin project.

So I had better get cooking and than go to the studio.

Robin is done

Finished the art quilt and ready to go on to a 3-D Robin.

I have a cedar post with a branch attached for a base.

Yesterday I started the nest.

Than maybe one more 3-D bird and ready

for submission.

It feels good to be back in the studio

and creating again.

My knee is finally starting to bend again.

I can walk up stairs normally

but still need to conquer going down.

Still doing one step at a time.

I found a mangle on Craig's list.

Talked the owner into delivering it before my surgery.

My son in law put a new cord on it.

So now I can press the 150 yards of fabric

I have pre shrunk for Nancy Crow's workshop.

 



the color of fall.

 I took a walk Sunday around the yard.

The colors were fabulous.

I love the orange and golds.

 You probably get tired of my tree photos.

I just love trees.

The rains the last 2 days will put an end to the color.

Nothing brings the leaves down faster than rain and wind.

Last night I added hand stitching to some small quilts.

Today I will work on making a bird nest with

a Robin sitting in it.

All in 3-D.

Should be interesting.

I started working on my proposal for a 2014 show about

birds. I need to finish this small quilt and make

some 3-D birds yet.

I had my husband cut a cedar log in 4 lengths.

We wrapped barb wire around them and

added a small branch to one.

The branch will hold a Robin on a nest.

I will attempt a 3-D owl this week 

to sit on top of one of the post.

Than maybe a cardinal or chickadees.

Spent a quiet day church, lunch out, a long nap

and a good book.

A perfect Sunday.

Fridays finally here.

 This has been a trying week.

Trying to get my knee to work.

Trying to get some studio time.

Just Trying.

So

It has to get better.

We finally are getting some rain.

Our ponds are low and they need recharging  before

winter or the freeze will hurt the fish population.

We had a delightful night last night

The 3 extra tall redheaded grandsons came over

for supper last night. Their other Grandma had surgery

yesterday so I am feeding them for 2 nights.

Their Mom has to spend time with her Mom.

Homework spread out on the kitchen table.

A double batch of Ham and scalloped potatoes

some sweet corn from the summer and a

pumpkin pie. They were happy boys.

Tonight is a Taco bar with all the fixings.

They love tacos.

Well I am off to the studio.

New art quilt

Surgery last Wednesday and back in the studio today.

I have such a good doctor.

I should be good as new within 4 weeks.

I made several small leaf quilts today.

I am doing research for a new show

I want to do in 2014.

We have to submit the info by the end of the month.

Birds quilts, 3-D birds, photographs of birds.

Now to come up with a catchy title.

Tomorrow morning the newspaper will do an interview

about my entries in the International Quilt show in Houston.

Its a small town and even a little news is big here.

The colors just keep getting better.
