WInter

Thought I would share a couple of photos of winter.
We have only had 3 snow falls this winter so fall.
So I went to the past to get a feel of winter.
I love cold winter nights so I can snuggle in layers
of winter blankets and sleep later.
Sipping hot chocolate curled up in a chair and
reading a good book.
Cooking up a pot of soup and a apple pie for
supper and filling the house with good smells.
Relaxing with my husband in the evening.
Winter is a time to slow down and enjoy life.

Purple Trumpets of Glory

My morning Glory quilt is accepted into the
Marie Webster show in Indianapolis.
It will hang in the Indianapolis Museum of Art.
I was happy to get the notification today.
I am looking forward to seeing how every one
interpreted her quilts. It is always interesting to
see the creativity of other artist.
Below is my inspiration for the quilt.
These Morning Glories come back each summer
in my gardens. I love the purple color.

I added the birds and dragonflies to my water
quilt today. Now to bind and finish.
Than to take photos.
Than get it entered one day before deadline.
Nothing like waiting  till the last minute.

Working on quilts

 Progress so far this week.
I have a 6 x 8 quilt for SAQA.
That is if I did not miss the deadline.
Than I worked on Tranquility.
Tranquility to me is water.
Tomorrow  I build birds and frogs.
Maybe a dragonfly.
Hopefully Saturday finish and photograph.

January in Indiana

 Winter sunsets are pretty spectacular.
Here at Cedar Ridge  we get the best ones.
Old houses and old barns along the road
make for great quilt ideas.
A pile of wood along the neighbors fence.
A frosted Century plant in the back yard,
The pattern of a pile of wood by the garden.
Beauty is everywhere.
I am finally making some headway on my
first quilt of 2016. I find it hard to get started each
year than I go like crazy.

Slow but sure

I haven't been able to walk in this space for a
year. Finally got this space cleaned up.
Much to the delight of my great grandson.
The toys are in here. See the dark space.
That is a tunnel to another closet.
He was thrilled that it was just his height.
The rest of it is mattes, card stuff and stamps.
I started to work on a new quilt.
Tranquility.
Water inspired.
Love the background.
Fabric by Helene from Paducah.

Sculpture

Thought I would share this piece from the past.
The assignment was to do a figure  sculpture.
He had a big blue heart.
Cheese box for a head, leaves for hair,
sewing machine boxes for legs,
shoe last for feet and chair ladders for ribs.
My husband helped me with this masterpiece.
Never know what you may end up doing in
the name of ART.
