Cold and Sunny

It is cold and sunny here in NW Indiana.

We could use lots of snow.

Our ground water table is way down.

I am actually worried that the fish in the big pond

will freeze solid this winter.

Should have ate them last summer.

I have 3 whole days in a row to spend in the

studio. I need to get a group of 3 small art quilts

done and mailed to the Ohio Craft Museum.

They need to be there by next Wednesday.

So I had better get busy.

THe start of some new art quilts.

 The first step in the process.

I printed some of my photos on fabric.

fused them onto backgrounds and today I will

add quilting. Than I think I will do some canvas

backgrounds and add the small quilts to this.

Than maybe embellish with beads or

found objects. Frog time was at the

International Quilt Show in Houston.

With the haku I wrote for it. I love the water lilies.

 Than the road in the woods in Wisconsin.

My husband and I took  a trip in the fall

to see the beauty of Wisconsin.

Another full day in the studio. Nice.

Carrolina Wren

 I only see this little fellow in the winter,

it is a Carolina Wren.  I keep my feeders full

this time of the year. The birds need food and energy.

They are such a pleasure to watch.

April and I had a good time dyeing fabric.

I will take a photo this afternoon to show you

our new colors. She wanted to learn how to make

more deep colors. I had gotten some new colors as well

so we worked together Friday to dye some

old bedsheets. She does the Binky patrol and makes

quilts for children. A local hotel gives them the

old sheets for backing when they replace theirs.

They make perfect pieces to dye.

Yesterday it took me all afternoon to pull the

threads on a stitched piece I dyed.

Saturday morning I made lunch for the construction

crew. Bacon and egg sandwiches  plus honemade

chicken noodle soup, brownies and chocolate milk.

My grandsons were waiting for my car when

I brought lunch to the site. Everyone is helping

my son build their dream home.

Quite an undertaking.

Newest art quilt

Studio all ready to dye on Friday.

I made 2 art quilts today.

This one with the chickadee is my favorite.

I just may keep this one.

Soft and subtle colors.

It went together so smoothly.

Now I just need to make another 18 or so.

Snowless winter.

Finished cleaning my studio for a play date.

Friday April is coming over to dye fabric and screen print.

I had to run back to Chesterton to get my Robin quilt.

I will put a frame on it so it can hang like a painting.

The Valporaiso Medical facility wants it in the lobby.

I hope it will cheer people as they wait to see the

doctors. This quilt gave me pleasure when I made

and now it will have  permanent home in the clinic.

Received an E-mail today to send some art

to the Museum of Crafts in Ohio for their

gift shop. I plan to make several 12" square

art quilts to send.

Thursday I will have a full day in the studio.

Kaffee Fassett's autobiography and a bag to put it in.

Love Love the colors of his fabrics.

The book was an interesting read.

Winter Scapes

Winter offers a different kind of landscape.

Barren piles of wood, Frosted plants the list is

endless. Hopefully today we get some snow so

it will at least look like winter. These 50 degree

days are a bit disconcerting. It does make it easier to

get around though. Today I have to deliver some art

to Chesterton Art Center. They have connected with

a new Medical Facility opening soon and we will

hang our original art in the lobby.

My Gathering for the trip south quilt will go there.

 My friend Doris will come with me. She is always

good company. At the young age of 91 she will

regale me with stories of her past all the way there

and back. We are bring 2 large paintings of hers too.

I will bring my sister her birthday present too.

A new Cuisinart 12 inch fry pan.

She has started to cook more and this is a

great pan to use. While in Chesterton I will stop

at the Red Cup Cafe and get some bread for

my husband . He really loves their artisan breads.

It is such a quaint little coffee shop with lots

of books to read or buy. A true gathering

place for the community.
