Ending 2011 & beginning another year

I am ready for the new year to begin.

I begin a new series on skies.

Winter skies, Spring skies, Summer too.

Morning skies. Sunsets. Storms.

The list is endless.

2012 here I come.

Being in the studio for hours on end is my goal.

But first a day of quiet with my mate of 49 years.

Good by 2011.

Winter or Spring?

My daffodils are up 4 inches.

They think it is spring.

Next the Robins will be back.

Maybe we are going to skip winter this year,

I got the furnace room cleaned.

7  large black garbage bags of junk

boxes and etc.

Now I can go to the studio without feeling guilty.

Got my work done.

Studio time again

Time to go back in the studio.

Christmas is put away

Just have to clean the furnace room

and than I can create all winter.

That is if we ever have winter.

Softly falling snow.

 Overnight the snow started to fall quietly.

Finally looking like winter.

 It coats the branches and falls on the butterfly wings.

Marks the pathway around the garage.

Today I will finish taking down the Christmas decorations,

Than to the studio for some serious creating.

Finally 3 months to myself to vanish into the studio.

Making sky related art.

Making landscape quilts.



Best gifts ever.

My children know what I like.

Quilters see a different star at Christmas.

My DIL found the 8 fat quarter  star of batiks.

My Daughter brought me 8 yards of fabric.

I can see the water,trees, and sky in these fabrics.

They were too generous.

My granddaughter gave me a Raku vase,

Grandson Andrew brought 2 spicy candles

how did he know I do not like fruity or flower scents.

My sister brought new towels to the mix.

My friend Doris gave me 2 canvases.

Plus I received gift certificate to Hobby Lobby

in case I need more art supplies.

A lovely bird calender.

I am truly blessed.

The best part was food, fun and laughter

of 22 people together for Christmas.

 A little more of Holiday decor,

this is part of my Santa collection.

I love the color  green.

 Home is where the heart is.

 After looking at Frieda Anderson's Santa collection

on her blog Friestyle.

I thought I would share some of my bird (obsession)

I meant collection. I love birds.

At Christmas I decorate with birds.

 This is my Christmas tree it is only 3 ft tall.

The perfect size to put me in the Holiday spirit,

It is covered in cardinals.

 A day would not be complete without watching the birds

out my kitchen window which is decked out in more birds.

My husband made me a new bird feeder this winter.

Its really a small house for the birds.

Now all we need is some snow.

My Blog Hop gift.

After a 3 hour marathon of baking 3 batches of cookies

2 pumpkin cheesecakes and a batch of Bouquet.

Bouquet is a Dutch puff pastry filled with almond.

I was beat, than the mail showed up and

brighten my day.

I see tree trunks, water and a sunset.

Even the bows will be used in a art quilt.

Blog interrupted by Christmas

I don't know about you but I am busy.

Cleaning the house

Making food

Buying food

Going to rehab for a frozen shoulder.

Following up with the foot doc for

a fix on each foot.

Trying to do the above with bad feet

not able to use my right arm too well.

Sounds like usual for an person of age.

always something.

It will be good though.

Christmas is always good

Besides I have a son and grandson who

work in catering on week-ends

who will come early Sunday morning and

make magic in my kitchen.

I just need to purge the place of my junk.

Piece of cake.

After all I got 5 days to do it.

Sunny Monday

Yesterday was a beautiful sunny winter day.

For some crazy reason I decided to move the

furniture in my bedroom and spent the whole day cleaning it.

What a mess.

I will finish it today.

Husband had to fix the bookcase I tried to move filled.

Book are heavy.

Found about 12 I need to read.

So it was a good thing

Adding to my give away.

I have more of these fabrics and I will

be adding some of them to my giveaway.

Along with what you would need to make your

own quilt card. Including an extra blank card.

I have been so busy I forgot to visit the hop.

Need to catch up today.

Art Quilt cards

 I have made 30 new art quilt cards for Saturday.

Quilt cards are $15 and make a nice gift.

A card and a piece of art all in one.

A busy day at Cedar Ridge

Back in the studio to make some more small art quilts.

I had request for another open house so I will be

open on Saturday the 10th  10 am to noon.

You will really see my studio as it usually  looks'

I started several new projects.

I am going to leave it all out.

Lose too much time cleaning  I need to get

some presents done.

I will be doing small quilts form this painting.

I love the fall colors and so do my clients.



Sunday Solitude

Sunday is such a great time of recharging.

Last nights concert at the Bluegate was awesome.

5  piano's at one playing music.

Definitely going back next December for the Christmas show.

Christmas.

I have never done circles before so I am experimenting.

I think I will attache them to 12 by 12 canvass. 

 I love the colors and will be embellishing them  more.

Another day of the Studio open house than

time to enjoy the holidays with my family.

We quit  the gift giving many years ago and

instead we ask people with no family left to join us

for Christmas day.

I really look forward to Christmas now.

I never know how many we will have.

My grown children have the option to add people.

Even as late as Christmas eve.

My mother was in the kitchen.

5 generations in the house at one time.

Really a day of thanksgiving.

The best dinner of them all.

What more could I ask for.

Except the leftover stuffing for breakfast.

and found a tree full of Juncos.

I am so thankful to live is such a place of beauty.
