Lichens

Yesterday I decided to make another entry
for a quilt show. 7 hours of frenzy, I did
finish it but wow was I tired.
Deadline was midnight last night.
I am showing you close-ups of the quilt.
It is supposed to be lichens.
small plants with out flowers
I do like how it turned out and even if it
is not accepted I would add more details
with yarns and Pearle cotton thread.
It will be part of my permanent collection.
I like the colors and the fabrics in this one.
I WILL NEVER TRY THIS AGAIN.
First of all it did not give me enough time
to enrich the surface something I will do
if it is not accepted.
I though of so much more I could do to this quilt.
Now for a quiet Saturday.
After I pick up the studio.
Looks like a tornado hit it.

Finished Quilt

Finished my quilt.
Now I have to decide to make another
one today or go shopping.
Will let you know what I decided in the morning.
I would have to have it finished by
2 pm. Think I can do it?

Nesting time

I am getting work done for a show I have next fall.
I remembered that I need to do some twigs and nests.
Thanks goodness for keeping a photographic file of
work. When I submitted the show proposal I
included the nest idea. The nest is made of
yarns and strips of silk. Silk frays and makes
the best  nest, I can picture baby birds
cozy in a nest of wool and silk. Makes me
want to write and illustrate a book for kids.
FOCUS.
Today I must finish the back of my latest
quilt, photograph it and submit it to SAQA.
I think I strayed from the theme but I love the
quilt anyway. Than to finish my submission
for Juried Art Membership to SAQA.
Deadline for both is the 28th.
One day to spare.

Kankakee Marsh

I am looking forward to seeing some green this spring.
Looking forward to the wood ducks coming back.
Spring is so full of life it brings smiles to my face.
I submitted some photos to a magazine and one
of them is going to be published in their next issue.
They also want a article talking about the making
of the big quilt by May 14.
I maybe better finish that big thing.
I love a life that there is always something to look
forward to. The last 5 years have been a pleasure.
Getting to do what I love and having the space to do it in.
I am so blessed.
70 feels good.
I hope to fill the 70's with lots of creativity.
