Scrapes

I  just had to touch some fabric again.
Pulled out the scrapes from my last project.
Picked up some more off the floor.
Now just some stitching and I have
a journal cover and a small art quilt.
I really like the top one.
Last night it rained and stormed.
We are very thankful for the moisture.

My newest project

I have take on the daunting task of painting these
huge canvas's in 4 weeks.
Our theme is Under Indiana Skies.
I am painting Indiana skies  in reflection.
Yesterday after lunch I painted just a small portion.
DO you find too that life gets in the way of
working on a project for more that an hour at a time.
I get my most  creating time in the
first 3 months of the year.
I will keep plugging along.
After all I looked at these bare canvases for 2 summers.
Finally putting some paint on them.

Gathering for the Trip South

My art quilt Gathering for the trip south is going for a trip.
The AQS show in Grand Rapids in August is the destination.
I was surprised when I recieved my packet in the mail.
How exciting to get accepted in the show.
April and I were going to the show anyway.
Now I can pose for a photo with one of my quilts
hung for display for a real show.
The idea for this quilt came from my past.
Back in the 80's I was looking out the kitchen window
and saw a flock of robins land on the crab tree by the garage.
What a sight.
The tree was pruned to a ball shape.
So there was this ball of flapping tweeting Robins.
They were attracted by the fruit.
The tree was stripped clean in minutes.
A nice way to commerate my memory.
I find that if I create my art from what I like
the end result is much better.
Have a great day all.

First times a charm,

 Yesterday's mail brought a surprise.
A big fat envelope from AQS.
My Robin quilt was accepted for the Grand Rapids show.
This is the first Quilt show I have entered.
Now I understand the happy dance thing.
Whats nice is that Grand Raids is only 2.5 hours away.
I was going with a friend to the show anyway.
Now I will see one of my quilts hanging at a show.
I was taking photos of the bee balm yesterday
and found some added interest in the flower.
Buzzing just 3 inches from my nose.
A big fat bumble bee.
Life is good

Color in Nature

I bought a $14 box of caladiums at Sam's this spring.
Money well spent.
I look at the leaves and wonder at the variety.
They were slow to come out of the ground.
But as they unfurl the colors are amazing.
I like pruple in the garden so these continue to delight me.
Like big colorful hearts.
Brads day off is today to I will be out in the yard today.
I am Thankful for the help he has been this summer.
He really like to chop and trim.
Our bushes look good now.
Everything benefits from a good trim.
I will make some homemade chile so he
can have chile dogs for lunch.
Chile Dogs with vadalia onions and cheddar cheese.
Yum. One of his favorites.
Saturday I painted card board boxes for a
rollor coaster for Bible school.
Not much time for my art quilts.
I long for January when I have solitude to quilt.
But enjoy the moments now with family.
Soon the grandkids will be back in school.
Too busy for grandma.
