Love at first sight.

I found this somewhere on the net.
I just love the colors in this mosaic.
Makes me want to redecorate the whole house
in just these colors.
I really only need  to add some dark blue touches
to what I already have.
Today we will put Mariam Hope Lawyer to rest.
She was a grand lady.
A supporter of the library, the arts and the community.
Best friend of my friend Doris.
90 years is a long life but with special people
not long enough.
I grew up with her daughter Penny,
I am friends with her son Terry.
Doris will give the eulogy for Mariam.
I wish I could live half the life of these priceless women.
I can only try.

Sunshine on a stem

Yesterday I painted the sunrise and sunsets on 3 quilts.
Now the stitching can begin.
But first a day of running.
I will mail the Robins to Paduccah today.
Go to the pain doctor to schedule a injection.
Its has been 5 years since the last one.
I did pretty good I usually get 4 years on a shot.
Our bodies just fall apart after 48 years.
The last 20 years I have got to know the doctors too well.
I am so thankful for my art it keeps my mind off of things
When I am in the studio I am in a zone.
Nothing bothers me.
Until the end of the day when I stop and reality sets in.
Good reason to stay in the studio forever.
Art Therapy.
Good for the soul and the body.

Surprise in my photo.

Yesterday we had 3 waterlilies blooming in the pond.
I decided to take some photos.
I caught a frog  just by happenstance.
He was sunning himself on a rock.
This little pond gives us much enjoyment.
Yesterday I finally got to run the sewing machine again.
I am working on a series of skies.
I stitched the skies on 3 pieces and will paint the sky today.
Friday is  a day of running up north.
I need to send the Robins on their way to AQS.
I will let the UPS store do their magic.
Well I am off to the studio for the day.

Roadside Dasies,

I just love these raggedy flowers I found out in the country
by the roadside.
They are a nice bright spot in the day.
Yesterday I got a massage and thankfully my vertebrae
in my neck snapped back in place while she was working
on it. What a relief. I had a 3 day headache that went
away instantly. We finished putting sweet corn in the
freezer in the afternoon. All in all a productive day.
I am looking forward to being in the studio this morning.
I have to make 4 art quilts by the 1st of September.
So
I am going to abandon the big painting
which was giving me a pain in my neck
and do what I love play with fabric.
Have a great day all.

Invasion of the Rudabeckia.

I think the black eye susans have taken over.
I need to eliminate half of these next spring.
I just saw the next 3 months forecast.
Hot August, cold September and a hot October.
I am almost to the point of wanting to escape somewhere cold.
I think I will abandon the huge painting.
It just does not cut it.
I need to get back to the fabric end of the studio.
I will be much happier.
Glad to have that out of the way.
We have to finish putting sweet corn in the freezer
today so I will be back in the sewing studio Wednesday.
Whew a big relief.

Monday Morning

Went to my pictures to find something to show you today.
Instead I found lots of ideas for art quilts.
I will be busy this winter making art for our show
Harmony in Nature in May 2013
These flowers are begging to be put into a quilt.
I am so blessed to live here on the hill with lots of flowers.
Today I have to finish the big painting.
Even though I don't like it.
It will need to have its satin varnish on by Thursday.
My mind is already on to future projects.
My attention span is so short I need to work fast,
Art Quilts are calling be back to fabric and thread,
Have a nice week.

Some of my favorite things

This architectural element was in the Flower show at Navy Pier
a few years back. A local garden center bought it and set it up
at his garden center. A beautiful element in a garden display.
Below is another cleaver idea for a glass ball in a garden.
Love my gardens and flowers.
 Here is another bright accent
just love that hair.
This is Tommy my great grandson.
He is a doll.
Wish we could see him more he lives far away.
Thank goodness for the Internet to we can see him.
Busy week and the next 4 weeks are the same.
Looking forward to September less on the calender.
