Phelps Mill

We went to visit Phelps Mill yesterday.
That is my husband fishing.
Fishing has been bad too cold yet,
My son-in-law is fishing by Detroit Michigan
and said the same thing.
I keep taking photographs to use in reference
for future art quilts. The scenes are nice.
Sunday our oldest son will arrive with his kids
so it will get busier. Having a quiet time in MN.

Watercolor study for an art quilt

I did a small watercolor study for a future art quilt
it is a good thing I took a photo the perspective
is off but that is easy to correct. The photo is
pretty bad but you get the idea. Trees and sumac
along a dirt driveway. Lots of lime green and red.
Finally it is Friday and we woke up to sunshine.
My husband is already out fishing leaving me
to clean the house. Last night we went to Stubs
for dinner I had the best pork tenderloin and
have enough left for sandwiches for lunch.
I remember when I was 14 the dances and
events held in the ballroom in the back.
Wolfman Jack and several others.
Memory Lane.
I am seriously missing my
studio I don't know what possessed me when
I suggested this trip. My house sitter had
trouble with the refrigerator last night
So after several calls I had her move the
food to the frig in the garage, I had
cooked about 30 pounds of pork for
sandwiches for my grandsons open house.
he is the class valedictorian we are
very proud of his accomplishment,

The Road to the lake

So far our stay in Minnesota has been cold.
But it is Minnesota and only the first week of June.
We have had plenty of time to rest up.
I am never bored though. I have read 4 books,
added hand stitching to one small quilt and I
have 5 more to go. The only thing lacking is
getting my husband out of the cabin and fishing.
Then I can visit all the artsy places without him.
I have taken a series of driveways so far that
will be a series of art quilts. I love roads through
the woods. There is a fabric shop in Brainard
that carries the Cherrywood fabric line that
is a must on my list of things to do.
I want to visit the bead shop in town too.
Lots to do and lots of time to do it in.
Good combination.

Minnesota Green

I could get used to this.
Today we will start exploring the area.
Well rested and raring to go.
This is an unusual experience for me.
Spending 30 days with my husband and
being mellow. The next cabin(big house) over
is a native and he has agreed to let me go
there to take some photos of his farm where
he grew up.  Looking forward to
being off the beaten path,
