Cedar Ridge

We have a line of these cedar trees on our property.
They are covered with berries that are blue grey.
The birds love the trees.
The perfect place to hide and roost.
In the fall the robins stop by for a snack on their way south.
If you want lots of birds in your yard .
Plant evergreen trees.
In the winter the cardinals are bright spots of red
against the green.
We named our hill Cedar Ridge.
I named the studio the same.
I hope to have a couple of hours in the studio.
Than somehow we accumulated a bushel of tomatoes.
They won't wait for another day.
They need to be done today.
More bright red juice for cold winter days.

Scraps

Yesterdays time in the studio was well spent.
My quilt is coming together nicely.
I may have something to enter the Quilt Nationals yet.
At the end of the afternoon I could not throw the scraps away.
I will turn them into a small purse.
Love the mix of turquoise and red.
The flowers are on their last gasp.
This hibiscus has a few blooms left.
I can always find a flower of some kind on the Ridge
until the end of October.
Another doctor day today.
My annual skin cancer check.
I will at least get lunch at Strongbow.
Always a treat.

Stash Building

I found this fabric on Fabric.com
Called Scriffito.
This fabric will be great to over dye and screen print.
I like it so much I ordered more.
I think it will make a great masculine quilt.
The luscious colors are Carol Falbert Breyer's fabrics.
I met her in Grand Rapids last week.
Love the color of her hair.
Red.
These are great colors for the stash.
The blue and gold is great.
The red will provide great accents.
Back to the studio this morning.
Working on a new show entry.
Today I start fusing and stitching.

The begining of a new quilt.

I love the colors of my new project.
As always nature themed.
It was good to be back in the studio.
I think I was absent for 3 weeks.
Wednesday I will have a whole day in the studio again.
Other duties call me today.
I even got another 4 quarts of juice done yesterday.
While I am off and running.
Have A good one.

Chesterton Art Comp 2012

I entered a art quilt in a traditional art show.
I got accepted.
I would have gotten a prize if I had left out the deer.
Too cute I guess.
I was glad to break the ice and get into the show.
 The full view.
I made this for my daughter.
I spent a month making it last September.
I also treated myself and bought June's painting
of the dunes.
June is in the upper 80's.
My mother would have appreciated this.
Today I WILL go to the studio and see if
I can still make something for the Quilt National.
If not there is always another time.
My time was better spent with my mother this last month.
