Paintings

I am still struggling with the big one.
It really helps to take a photo and print it.
Than I can study and look for ways to improve.
I did not realize that I really am a better art quilter
than painter.
I need to stick with fabric to paint my world.
The panels below are rust dyed cotton velvet.
I love the abstract quality of it.
Nice to touch too.
One more day of extreme heat.
Our long hot summer in Indiana.

Invasive Flower

My garden seem to be a haven for the butterfly bush.
It reseeds itself everywhere.
Not that I mind I love butterflies and flowers.
I really like purple too.
I have deep purple and light purple.
So I think I will just let it have its way
with my garden and look forward to a sea of purple
swaying in the wind with zillions of butterflies
flitting here and there.

Serenity

It is a quiet morning here at Cedar Ridge,
I am working on the painting and am stuck.
My friend Doris is coming to the rescue.
She can at a glance tell me where I am going wrong.
What a nice friend.
She is amazing.
At going on 91 years of age she is a dynamo.
I wish everyone could be so vital and full of life.
She can still throw 32 pots in a day.
Paint great pictures and help a friend.
Have a great day.

Scrap quilt

I had to do some sewing.
All that painting was driving me crazy.
It is amazing but I like fabric better that paint now.
So after 5 hours of painting I stitched the scrap
quilt I made last week. I had fun with the stitches.
Curving lines and straight lines.
Now to use this piece as part of a larger quilt..
I love the colors.
Reminds one of fall leaves.
I may cut it in leaf pieces.
Or use it as part of a larger quilt with leaves around it.
We will see

The views out my windows

The views out my windows can inspire countless
art quilts. There is no end to the ideas I get from
my patch of earth. Living in the country with a
pump and well lets us keep everything fresh and green.
The honeysuckle vines provide humming bird food.
A quiet place to read the mail in the afternoon.
Another honeysuckle vine I took from my parents home
10 years ago when my father passed.
What a sweet reminder of how much he loved flowers
A love he passed on to me and I passed to my daughter.
I have shared lots of plants from my gardens.
In fact over 12 pick-up loads in 12 years.
They just keep growing.
Have a great day.
Stay cool.

Step 2 of the painting

While Saturday I added some tree trunks.
I cannot decide if I like this project or not.
That is my confidence talking.
Something this big is scarey.
I have not painted for a few months.
The brain forgets how to do things
I will keep at it and finish.
Have a great Sunday.
