Evenings on the deck

Most nights after supper we sit an the deck
by the Koi pond watching nature.
The yellow pond iris are starting to bloom.
A pair of blue birds have claimed the birdhouse.
We will enjoy watching them this summer.
Yesterday was exhausting.
Spent most of the day in the emergrncy room
with an old friend with a huge tooth abcess.
She got some heavy duty antibiotic injections,
pain pills and an appointment for oral surgery
for 9 am Monday.
I was going to take my painting to Lafayette Friday
but on impulse went Thursday.
I was going to be needed Friday.
Good to know our lives are in good hands.

Sunset in Indiana

 Yesterday was hot.
86 degrees.
I was sore from cleaning the garage Wednesday so
I decided instead of dyeing fabric I would take my
Char-i-ty entry to Lafayette.
There are some neat entries.
I especially liked the Swiss cheese chair.
Drill some big holes out of the back and seat-
paint it yellow and done. Great idea.
Last nights sunset was a beaut.
Stormy nights produce great sunsets.
Well back to the dye pots today.

Toucan painting finished and ready to fly.

Just need to put the hangers and wire on the back.
Than to deliver the painting this week-end.
It was fun painting a bird.
I am thinking of a chicken series.
Today I will clean the garage so I can
Dye.
Over the winter the garage collects stuff.
Now to clean it before 10 am so I can
catch the garbage pick up.
Last night I pulled threads for 2 hours
for my first piece of shibori.
Off and running.

Ahead of Schedule

This is my goal for this summer.
To make quilts that have this dreamy quality.
I always end up hard edged.
Maybe QSDS 2012 will loosen me up.
I am ahead of schedule for my entries due May 7th.
One will go to Tommy Fitzsimmons Wednesday.
The AQS 2012 in Grand Rapids entry is ready too.
I will deliver my Chair and painting to Lafayette
on Thursday for the Chair-i-ty event.
Than since it is going to get hot I will dye.
Got a bolt of Kona PDF.
Maybe I can turn out a piece of fabric
good enough to enter in the cloth contest at
QSDS.
I always try to do the hardest things I can
If you don't try you don't succeed.

Mom and Me

I visited with my Mom yesterday.
We are blessed with an assisted living facility that
is like a fancy hotel and no bad smells.
This is a photo taken a few years ago.
She suffers from dementia.
We sit and watch TV together.
I bring her fresh baked chocolate chip cookies.
She falls asleep often.
But she still recognizes me.
She repeats herself a lot.
But we will all get there someday.
I am glad she is close.
Makes me wonder what old age has in store for us.
She will be 92 this year.
