A Lazy Saturday

 My new blanket.
I finished my daughters quilt and had enough left over
green flannel to back the piece of chenille that I have
used for a blanket the past 2 winters. Looks better now.
I complained that my amaryllis did not bloom so
she brought me over a pot of 3 green spider amaryllis
to watch bloom for the winter.
Since I am retired I can finally have live plants again.
I would be so busy I forgot to water them before.
Our sun room is our TV space so a few plants are nice.

What a great feeling to be retired.
I have finally relaxed enough in 3 years  I even
stop and read a book during the day.
What a joy.

Twisted circles

I finished the circle art quilt.
This was inspired by a storm that came through
our area last June.
I was in the studio and oblivious to the outdoors.
Suddenly I saw tree tops flying through the air
outside my windows the wind howled,
debris flew through the air-quite a awesome sight.
I was home alone and when I emerged from
the basement I was amazed at the mess
created by the storm.
My cell phone rang as my grand kids and kids checked in
Thank goodness everyone was all right.
My son and grandson were on the road with
their trucks and a huge oak tree fell in front of
them than another in back of them hemming them in.
Too close for comfort.
The grand kids showed up and cleaned up the yard in a few hours.
Family is a good thing.
This quilt shows the chaos and confusion a storm creates.
I was  sadden by the destruction of so many mature oak trees.
I love my trees.

Frost

Yesterday morning.
Enjoy.

Foto Fiber 2012

From Virginia Spiegel's newsletter.
Most artists, well, me anyway, are people who like being alone, enjoy living in their heads, and just find the whole human race thing a bit much sometimes. But it is good, and I believe necessary, for all of us to see beyond ourselves now and then.

I am never busier than during the run-up to a fundraiser. And this, as in other years, this push has been accompanied by a surge in my creativity in the studio. Good deeds may be their own reward, but I always seem to be a double or triple winner. I hope as a Foto/Fiber artist or patron that you too gain by your good deeds beyond just the satisfaction of donating to a good cause.

I very much appreciate your support and look forward to seeing you at the big event on February 15.

Good works from Virginia.

I would like to ask you to participate in FoToFiber2012 and give to the American Cancer Society. We all have been touched by cancer. In my own family - sister-brother-grandmother-aunt and friends. Together we can find a cure.

Click on the LOGO to the right and see what we are talking about.
I found her words interesting like being alone and living in our heads. Some of my best works come from my head. When I go to bed at night I fall asleep to ideas in my imagination. Planning for future works.
