Water fowl.

Spent the afternoon photographing Minnesota lakes
and wildlife. I took 365 shots all from the comfort
of the truck. My new lens is great. My grandson
caught a 35 inch Northern so he was very happy,
One more day and we get a rest from visitors until
Sunday night. I think they went through 10 gallons
of white and chocolate milk. I bet the next crew will
do even better. They all love the Cass Clay dairy
products. I have a lot of nice photographs for
art quilts. Great water shots. I promised to make
Chinese food today for them. Fried rice and pork
stir fry. They are off to the bakery for fresh rolls
than another day of fishing.

Structures

Love the abstract shapes of these buildings
Interesting.
I am staying in a town of 875 people.
In 20 years they have gained maybe 50 people.
I see they struggle to keep stores open.
The tourist season is only 3 months.
I am going to take more photos today
The sun is good and the skies are clear.
I promised Mark and his kids a Chinese
meal on Friday so I will head to town to
find the ingredients.

Collecting more data for art quilts

 Water and reflections everywhere.
I will have abundant material for art quilts.
Thank goodness for some good sunshine.
Brad our grandson caught a 14 inch 2.2 pound
crappie, He is going to have it mounted.
I took Jenna our grand daughter shopping for
a bathing suit today. A lesson in patience.
I enjoyed the experience. A time to talk and get
to know each other better. I will be trying to
get some photos of fish swimming in the lake.
The guys keep seeing them at the inlet but
when I stop there they are gone.

Up Close

I love the small garden outside our vacation home.
There is a fallen tree trunk covered with moss.
Several little vignettes of plants and moss.
Taking close up photos may create some good
ideas for art quilts. The weather finally warmed up.
The fish are biting and so are the dogs. My
grandson went for a run and came back with
some holes in his ankle. Thankfully the dogs
shots were current. He just needs to take 10
days worth of antibiotics.
I am counting the days until I get back to my studio.
I have a painter refreshing half the house with
new paint, removing wall paper borders and
patching the holes I created on the design wall.
So it is a good thing I am gone.
When I get back it will be all nice and clean.

Critters

There seems to be a lot of chipmunks here.
They are not bashful. Another cool rainy day
here in Minnesota. Great sleeping weather.
I found a couple of quilters here in Battle Lake.
Nice to see a sewing machine open with fabric
under the needle. Makes me want to sit down
and sew something. Today we get 3 new
quest to share our house on the lake.
The more the merrier
